The sunset was almost gone, the family photo shoot was wrapping up and over to one side I saw their oldest son do a standing backflip!
In this case, the low evening light was perfect as it let the flash fire as fast as my shutter to capture this whole sequence.
“We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today. “
Don’t forget to stop and listen to your babies. They have a lot to teach you. These tiny humans are So smart. I truly believe in not rushing the whole education thing. Let them be little while they can. Let them explore and discover. Most importantly, don’t forget to play with them. I guarantee you that you playing with them will mean more to them than anything else!

If you ever wanted to do photography for fun or even start a business it takes time to build but, I’m here to tell you it can happen. ❤️
And, this is an iphone picture because I had to show off my babies all together 🌺
This sweet family will be leaving the island soon and I had the pleasure of capturing a family session for them this evening!
Hi friends! I’ve had a relaxing weekend which was much needed! Preparing for this huge move in just three short months, hubby being deployed, and a few other personal things that happened his past week have just really stressed me out but luckily I’ve had an amazing past two days full of quality time with awesome friends and my baby girl! I am taking today off as well but wanted to pop on here and say HEY while Maci is currently napping! .
I absolutely love lifestyle sessions like this one above and want to start doing more of them! I actually have one planned for Maci and myself before we leave island because let’s be honest, the Quad Cities will be slightly cold in November for some ice cream! How adorable is this little boy and how delicious does that ice cream look?!
I’m going to be starting this week with one major goal…and if I’m honest, it terrifies me. I’ve committed to expanding my business! I will be announcing at the end of this month exactly what I'm now going to be offering but one of my main focuses will still always be families! I’m excited and nervous all at the same time and would LOVE some advice! Do you think expanding your business to offer more than just mainly family photography is a good move? If you are a photographer, how did you feel when you expanded YOUR own business OR has something been holding you back from doing just that? Don’t hold back! Flood my comments!
Also would you just look at these two? I’m over here drooling over their romantic dock sunset session 😍
my MOTTO.... Life is good and being able to grab on to every moment and celebrate it, is a huge deal for my kids. My favorite memory that I have on my walls is a giant metal print of my two youngest in a boat, talking to each other and enjoying the afternoon. What’s your favorite memory of your family?
How’s it going today? I can tell you that MY week was…I’ll say… exhausting. I’ve been racing against the clock to roll out the newest extension to my business, playing that single- mommy role while hubby is deployed, trying to help nurture my toddler back to health after this croup incident, and also keeping up with my everyday work! But I am never not grateful that I make my living capturing pure love between hundreds of families each year! So on days when stopping seems oh-so-tempting, I remember the words of Albert Einstein, and charge ahead: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving”. KEEP MOVING, friends! If we’re lucky, we’ll catch the wind in our hair!
I had a pleasure to photograph these beautiful people few times while they live on the island. Super excited for them and new chapter in their life. Whatever the reason, many people who move here end up leaving after only a few years. It’s sad to see friends go but on the positive side it’s nice to have great people all over the world and in different states which I can always visit 🤙🏼
Sorry I was so MIA yesterday guys! Things are finally settling back down! I need some advice from YOU though. What helps you with stress? Having a deployed husband and a million things happening while he’s gone and dealing with the whole move on my own, plus my precious little toddler has been wearing me thin. Of course photography is my creative outlet but when I’m not spending time with families, I’d love to incorporate some other stress relieving things! I do workout and that helps tremendously so advice other than that! I want to hear what works for YOU! .
Here is a peep at @sarahmckayphoto
little family. How freaking adorable are they? We did both forest and beach during their session and I legit can’t wait to finish editing and sharing these images with you guys!
You know that feeling when you’re absolutely exhausted from a long day? And then that feeling right after when you plop down on the sofa with a pint of Rocky Road? THAT’s the feeling you give me. That warm. THAT fuzzy. You’re better than marshmallows and chocolate. Thank you for being here.
If you don’t have a smile, I’ll give you one of mine😀
I loved capturing this adorable family at Magic Island Beach Park. Have you been at this location? If you haven’t you should go. This is really nice beach park to spend time with the family and to watch most beautiful sunsets 🌅
In these times of UberEats, Amazon Prime, and a less than 24 hour news cycle, it seems nearly impossible to keep up with what’s going on. Here’s a friendly reminder to just be HERE. Life comes at us faster than ever, but we only really get one moment at a time, and it’s up to us to make the most of each and every one. I like to reset my mind on the present with a sunny walk around the neighborhood, unplugged, watching my daughter as she races down the side walk on her bike! What’s your favorite for staying in the moment?
Another one from last night's family session in Ko Olina. Only this young man was more interested in playing in the sand then in the water. :-) @vgoraya
Tahitian outfits caught my interest a long time ago. It must be the traditional dance with lots of hip movements that I probably will never learn:( Hawaiian, Tahitian... What’s next? I think this is good for now. Just Thinking for something parents could wear as well. I really want to have photoshoots like this for the whole family. I guess this is a good question: how many parents here would actually like to have island themed photo session for themselves and their children?
