We sit here most nights, after handstanding and ring playing on an old abandoned pier. Mostly there’s no one but us, us and the white sand crabs hiding from us, us and the lizards who want bites of our fruits we laughingly toss their way. We read meditations written by The Stoics and talk philosophy as the sun sets across the ocean. Feeling the last bits of warmth from the fading day.
I wondered outloud the other night, were we getting too comfortable in this routine? Of course if there were one routine to get comfortable in I suppose it’s this one. Of course, the day after I wonder this, there’s work to be done that keeps me from our beach and the next few sunsets and the great words of wise masters read from the mouth of a seeker like me.
While it’s true we want to avoid attachments, we do not need to avoid routines. At least not these kinds. They will come and go on their own. Best to appreciate each and every grain of sand that supports us while we can. Best to love the life we have while we can. Best to find someone to sit on a beach with and talk philosophy to as the sun sets on another blessed day. Let it come and go. Like the soft ocean waves lapping the smooth white shoreline. Grateful for the last sunset we shared. Staying present in gratitude until the next chance comes again.
Join me tonight @smilingbuddhayogastudio
for slow flow from 530-630 pm, if I’m going to miss the sunset, at least let me miss it with you ❤️
