Lunch at @l_ami_jean
in Paris, FR
We were able to grab lunch with @_amytran
while she was in town.
This was such a painful but absolutely delicious meal. Big thanks to @ramenadventures
for this recommendation since I never would have found out about them otherwise.
Some of the dishes were just nuts. The potato soup was one of the most comforting and deeply satisfying soups I've ever had and I'd easily kill a gallon of it if put in front of me. The terrine--though only a small appetizer--was so meaty, savory, and filling!
The veal cheeks were rich, tender, and delicious. The red mullet fish was one of the prettiest (and tastiest) seafood dishes I had in Europe. And the celery on celery on celery (celery root, oil, and foam) dish with sausage was so much better and interesting than it sounded on paper. And of course the vanilla bean rice pudding had to be ordered to finish off the meal.
The dining room was loud and roucous, but a really fun lunch atmosphere. By the end of the 2 hour lunch, I was in pain from eating so much food, but I couldn't complain. I'd definitely come back for a dinner tasting menu on my next trip.
