, people should not be valued for their level of education or looked down on for a lack thereof. It is not through any external means that people acquire value; not job, not education, not any sort of accomplishment. Value is of the soul. Station in life may be different based on externals but value is not. Contrary to popular belief, the two are not the same. Look at the Holy Family. St.Joseph was head of the Holy Family though he was the LEAST in terms of the spiritual life. Mary is the Immaculate Conception and Jesus is the Christ yet both lived under the earthly guidance of Joseph. Did he have more value? Absolutely not. Was Jesus subordinate to him in his role in the family? Yes.
What is the true point of education? It is to know and understand Truth and to live a holy, virtuous life. If schooling does not bring this, it is not true education. If it pulls people away from the spiritual life, it is not education. It is merely indoctrination.
I pray that my daughter may be measured by the goodness of her soul and the joy she brings to (or into) the world rather than for certificates and honors.
