** Who are you allowing to influence you? ** Are you someone that as soon as you wake up jump onto social media? Perhaps to help you wake up? Have you ever thought of who you are allowing to influence the start of your day? The old saying, 'You're the company you keep' is true. Those around you can either build you or hinder you. And with social media today, you have so many people that now influence who you're as a person, how you live your life, and sadly, dictate how you feel about yourself as a person. If you're someone that isn't happy in your own skin, sometimes the worse things you can do is follow fitness influences as motivation. Seeing an unrealistic image of how you wish to see yourself by viewing those utilising professional photography, editing, lighting, makeup and oil is not only viewing a non-realistic goal, but also taking your mind away from what you actually need to do to change your way of thinking about yourself. Social media truly is an amazing tool when it is utilized correctly, but it is up to you to choose your influences (this includes absolutely every piece of content you see - even those people you know personally). Choose to see those that are part of the real world that are actually out there to help, build you up and promote being happy, healthy, sustainable and without the bullshit. This includes those people that you know personally. Are you waking up and seeing the same old negative posts about nothing but toxic topics and the spreading of poor energy? Don't be afraid to go on an unfollow spree! It's for your own good. You're the company you keep, and everything you see and read influences your mindset, thoughts and actions. Choose to immerse your online presence with those that spread love, positivity, happiness and the good things in life. If you are yet to ever do this, It will be one of the best things you do online. Pulled 240 sumo last night This is the most I’ve ever pulled sumo due to never training it in the past, It’s not much but I’m still recovering from a back injury, so to be pain free and hitting pb while rehabbing my back is a big win 👍🏽 Thanks @muscle_nerd_ and @andrew_lock_strength for all the prehab exercises, my core is stronger than ever 🙏🏽
Is it better to go to the gym everyday for an hour, or be continuously active throughout each day? Both. By having an active lifestyle with a high NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) you will automatically burn more calories than someone who is sedentary all day. The higher your NEAT (which you can gauge by daily steps) the more likely you are to burn fat (given that you have proper nutrition). Although, going to the gym and completing resistance training with adherence to progressive overload will enable you to build lean muscle and therefore, shape your body and develop lean muscle. Fat loss and developing a lean physique is achieved through the process of both incorporating strength training and also living an active lifestyle, which is dependent on individual factors such as your job/career, activity preferences, etc. Don’t spend massive hours in the gym doing cardio... this will get you nowhere. Focus on getting stronger and get rid of the mindset of “losing weight” and you’ll see a massive difference in your progress!

✨WILL I STORE FAT IF I EAT JUST BEFORE BED?✨ . Over the last couple weeks I’ve heard soooo many women spout out these myths which have been prevalent over the years so I thought I’d debunk 10 myths in the next 10 days! . Also the answer to the above is no in case you hadn’t already guessed! 😅 . If I’m honest, I actually have no idea where this myth has stemmed from so if anyone does, please feel free to enlighten me. My theory is because your body’s processes slow down in sleep so maybe people once thought your metabolism wouldn’t work as efficiently when you’re sleeping?? Fuck knows, but it’s a load of shite 😂 . You will only store fat if you are in a calorie SURPLUS. . The timing of your meals or snacks makes zero difference. . The macro ratio of the meal or snack will make zero difference. . Literally nothing will make you store fat if you eat before bed unless you have taken in more calories than you’ve put out. . I personally like to eat before bed because I often wake up hungry in the night but there’s pros and cons to this. . Pros being that I don’t wake up because I’m starving. . Cons being it may affect my sleep because I’m going to bed with a full stomach. . I’m willing to take the risk! . Give me a 🙌🏼 if you eat before bed!
The Thermic Effect of Food (TEF)should account for about 10-15% of your total daily energy expenditure. By this I mean, if you expend 2000 calories per day, about 200-300 of these will be used by the body to digest, metabolise, absorb etc. the food you eat. But you can manipulate this figure by adjusting your macronutrient intake. In other words, eat more meat. It makes sense that the body is going to expend more energy and use more calories to break down a steak, than it would an avocado. So if you are trying to drop some fat, you need to be conscious of your calorie intake in order to create a sufficient deficit to elicit fat loss, but this can be made easier with an increased protein intake. I am a big protein fan and feel most people would benefit from upping their protein. So why not replace your oats with some eggs and bacon, it tastes better too IMHO. It is worth noting that not all protein will have the same TEF, mince (or ground) beef will have a lower TEF value than a ribeye steak because it is easier to digest. Girls (and some guys) have a tendency to obsess over the scales. When so many factors such as hydration, salt intake, carbohydrate consumption, periods, toilet habits, sleep and training can all effect daily weight, no wonder you get so frustrated when weighing yourself daily. Normally my Wednesday check in weight is higher due to Saturday refeeds, today my weight was 0.2kg lighter than pre refeed. Baffled! First time ever it’s done that! Strongman lifts, odd objects, weighted carries.⁣ ⁣ All great things to include in your training.⁣ ⁣ When we're looking to carryover strength and fitness built in the gym to outside of it, we want to look at getting strong in weak positions.⁣ ⁣ The reality is in life, we don't always get the time to set up our technique perfectly so if we can get comfortable being uncomfortable in our training it'll make everything we use our fitness for outside the gym that much easier.⁣ ⁣ Using these lifts will plug the gaps in strength between our traditional lifts, help develop stability and increase our trunk strength (read abs). They're also great to include in circuits due to the amount of muscle required to complete them, making them as tough on the lungs too.⁣ ⁣ Start adding a few in to your training and if you get stuck for ideas drop me a DM.
