Day 19/20 Advanced Selfie Challenge. I had a problem this morning with body image. I woke up and felt compelled to check my weight and fat percentage on the scale because with all of the good I’ve been doing I figured I’d see some awesome results. But I was surprised to find that Rather than the numbers going down... they actually went up. 😖
Immediately I was crushed.
Confused, my brain went into hyper mode and tried to come up with a list of all of the different explanations for why I was seeing these numbers. Maybe it was because I’m gaining weight. It HAS to be because I haven’t eliminated yet this morning. I’m sure it’ll be different after I exercise. Man I ate WAY too many cashews this weekend... with all that salt!
I was destroying myself by talking negatively and I hadn’t even been up for a full hour. That’s insane how such a simple task can have such a huge impact on your mindset for the rest of the day. I continued thinking about it for the rest of the morning while I did my routine until I finally said ENOUGH. 🏊🏻♀️
I saw a post from one of my favorite Instagram profiles, @fatgirlfedup
and her post said “3 months, and consistency and I’ll make it through”. Right then and there I made a vow to myself to not check the scale for another 3 months. The entire purpose this time around to tackle health and wellness was to come at it from a mental health perspective rather than trying to get as skinny as possible as fast as possible. I’ve decided if I want to measure my progress, I’ll do so by keeping track of my body measurements rather than weight.
I hope anyone out there going through the same struggles sees this and makes this pact with me. I look forward to making that post showing the progress, but not for another 3 months. Who wants to join me? 🤛🏻 💪🏻
