Today we celebrate all presidents but in particular George Washington & Abraham Lincoln's birthday. This is ironic when George Washington was a Slave owner from birth. He inherited 10 slaves from his father and enslaved over 300 Africans as an adult. Abraham Lincoln supposedly was against slavery and did not own slaves but he worked around them 🤔. *** He was not the first to sign an emacipation to free the enslaved and did so ONLY to win the war againt the British colonies. Who had enslaved Africans rebel and cross over to fight with them for their freedom. Be aware that although these Presidents are significant to U.S history they should not be blindly celebrated . Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is an innate right !!! . . . . #presidentsday #knowthetruth #georgewashinton #abrahamlincoln #REALEYESREALIVESREALIZE #history #opression #thieves #slavery #modernslavery #stolenfromafrica #transatlanticslavetrade #africandiaspora #reparationsaredue #Blackpower #africandiaspora #blackandproud #blacklove #blackunity #knowthyself #raiseup #nonprofits #maninthemirror #nowall #indigenouspeople
If I can, so can you. I'm feeling particularly grateful for my own resilience today. After nearly seven years of a period, which I rarely reference due to the tramatic toll it took/takes on my psyche, I took MY life back into MY hand. After nearly two years of healing, I'm finally feeling like myself again. I have #goals , I have #plans , I have #purpose . I've had the most beautiful life beside me for the past five years to provide a light towards the end of the tunnel. I'm finally feeling like I've made it out and I'm on my way up. #Struggles with reminders of how simple life can be, how precious #time is and how much I control my own #destiny , I am determined to make the next ten years #greater than I could have ever #imagined after the path I walked the previous ten. On this day of #blackhistorymonth we honor the black women of the civil rights movement who are often written out of history. The narrative of the cvil rights is told from a mans perspective and not because women weren’t involved, they absolutely were, but rather were purposely written out of an era black women helped mold. . “The civil rights movement could not have happened without women. They were grassroots organizers, educators, strategists and writers. They built organizational infrastructure, developed legal arguments and mentored young activists. They fought ardently against the forces of racism, but they also battled another form of oppression: sexism. . The women of the civil rights and black liberation movements understood their fight for human rights needed to address the dual forces of racism and sexism, and that it needed be inclusive. As Dayo F. Gore, Jeanne Theoharis and Komozi Woodard wrote in Want to Start a Revolution? Radical Women in the Black Freedom Struggle, many women worked to "create new structures and political movements free from racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia to nourish their visions of liberation."” @usatoday . #blackhistorymonth #blackwomanhistory #opression #representationmatters #civilrightsmovement #civilrights #mlk #humanrights #liberation #freedom #equality #endracism #genderequality #representation #herstory #forgottenhistory #resistance #fight #bhm #women #womenmatter #unity

"For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL," both parties said in a joint statement. "As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party." A statement released earlier today, stating that both parties settled for an undisclosed amount. Smart move by the NFL? Boicot a Israel'. #Repost @philcobucci ・・・ We hear it over and over again: “I never meant any harm…” “It was never my intent…” “I am not a racist…” “I am not a homophobe…” “I’m not a sexist…” I cannot tell you how often I’ve seen people attempt to deflect criticism about their oppressive language or actions by making the conversation about their intent. . At what point does the “intent” conversation stop mattering so that we can step back and look at impact? . After all, in the end, what does the intent of our action really matter if our actions have the impact of furthering the marginalization or oppression of those around us? . For people of identity privilege, this is where listening becomes vitally important, for our privilege can often shield us from understanding the impact of our actions. When we are told that the impact of our action, inaction, or words is hurtful and furthers oppression, we can start by apologizing without any  caveats. From there, we can spend the time to reflect in hopes of gaining at least some understanding (however marginal) of the harmful impact. . #privilege #intent #impact #opression #refocus #listen #hearme #iseeyou #identityprivilege #opressivelanguage #beahero #leadership #staycurious

We hear it over and over again: “I never meant any harm…” “It was never my intent…” “I am not a racist…” “I am not a homophobe…” “I’m not a sexist…” I cannot tell you how often I’ve seen people attempt to deflect criticism about their oppressive language or actions by making the conversation about their intent.
