Throw Back Time! 😉 Anyone who has achieved ANYTHING great, anyone who has CHANGED THE WORLD has at some point chose to embrace failure instead of fighting it.
For today's #throwback
I thought it would be healthy to share one of my business failures. I laugh because there has been more than one, but for today's post, we will be concise.
Last year, was not my best year and failure seemed to overwhelm, every area of the life. Ironically, it was also one of my most creative. When you're down, all you have is time and opportunity.
I found a post on Craig's List asking for #Jewelry
Designers to outfit a local, yoga studio. I immediately reached out to them, sent images and explained my work. The response was loving and oh so kind. The studio Co-Owner invited me up the following Monday to sign a consignment agreement and to put up my display. "Finally," I thought, "something is working out in my favor." Happily, I rearranged my schedule and designed a rotating stand, tags and put together my work in two days flat.
Monday arrived, and gladly drove the hour and a half to downtown, Denver, paid for parking and carried in my designs and display.
The Studio Owner, not Co-owner was there to greet me. I noticed right away the energy was different and kind of dark. Focusing on my efforts, I pushed through and proceeded to pull out my designs for her to see. Without a beat, she looked at my jewelry and said, "We can't sell these." I looked confused and proceeded to repeat back the conversation I had with her Co-owner and my invitation to be apart of their studio. Her response, "Isn't she cute." "We only sale malas at this price point. People love malas." I was crushed, PISSED and rightfully so. There were a few choice words exchanged, and I told her exactly what I thought of her rudeness, disorganization, and communication. I may have said the F-Word a few times; it wasn't pretty.
Every skip in my step, every hope in my heart, was stomped out. She looked at my jewelry and could not see the beauty, originality, and love, all she saw... NO malas.
