! You know what that means, another episode of @tacocitypod
. This week @robgokee
talks to Adolfo Valenzuela of @tacoslosdesvelados
! If you're trapped on your long run like me, check out another favorite podcast of mine, @crimejunkiepodcast
. Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat mix curiosity and compassion in an informative way, and always show their soft spots for our four-legged friends. I appreciate that they are super down to earth about personal safety and security. They use the word preparanoid for crying out loud, how great is that. So, that's two great podcasts to check out, what are you waiting for?
Run Streak Day 13, #50ktraining
already in week 2! There's like 16 to go but whatever 🤣
Shoutout to @stilettorunning #runwaycrew
Don’t let the brightness behind me throw you off it was rainy and misty out today. Race day isn’t always bright and sunny so why only run when it’s that way outside? I am sure I got some weird looks from people in their nice warm dry cars seeing me out running.
Three more fun shots from the weekend! 🖤💖 I am already looking forward to next year, did I just say that? #stripatnight #pinkandblack
About 5 years ago while on a night out I had an epiphany moment: I had to get up early to take my son swimming and I had already had my fair share of drink. Something had to change. So I left the party / party life and headed home. The next day, after the swimming lesson I went for a run and made it a habit. I dropped three belt holes in 6 weeks and had no idea what an ultra was. Finishing my first 100 mile race, the @pennine_barrier_ultra
with the boy 5 years later was a pretty fitting way to do it. In another 5 years he'll be beating me to the finish... So this is a #transformationtuesday
and a further few belt holes dropped in the picking up of my first belt buckle.
I can't live without pockets! #SkirtSports
has introduced me to many products that make my runs easier..."more organized", even. Skirts with pockets, tops with pockets and incredible detail (these thumbholes aren't just slits, I can fit a begloved thumb in there!), and prints that aren't just fun - they make me visible on my run! Skirt Sports also introduced me to #bocogear
accessories. ❤️ Do you have mandatory gear for your favorite activities?!?

Short Version: I did it! Completed 100 Miles. Tunnel Hill was a cool event and cool course. Unfortunately a cold course too! Most of the time below freezing and dipped into low 20s overnight. Anyway, I finished and earned a coveted 100 mile buckle. Amazing feeling to cross that finish line and realize how much distance you covered!
Long Version: Tunnel Hill 100 was an amazing challenge and one I was grateful to complete. In the week leading up to the race I watched the weather forecast continue to show colder and colder temps. I knew the mental part of completing a 100 was going to be difficult for me and the prospect of spending 24+ hours in really cold temps was not something I was looking forward too! I would say more of the race was in sub-freezing temps than it was above freezing. Saturday afternoon was nice and sunny but when the sun went down....brrr! Tough to stay warm. At one point my water bottle was frozen shut both the nozzle and the lid. So for about 10 miles I didn’t have anything to drink other than a cup of water at an aid station. I came in to the start/finish after 76 miles for one last out and back of 100 miles through the really scenic tunnel trail (for which Tunnel Hill gets it’s name). Unfortunately I didn’t have much energy to enjoy it that last time through. I hit a wall at around 80 miles (This was about 3 in the morning) and was struggling to stay awake and keep moving. A cup of coffee at the Tunnel Hill aid station perked me up for a few miles but on the return for the last 10 miles it was an episode of the walking dead. I could barely stay upright. Couldn’t keep my eyes open and pretty sure there were moments where I was sleep walking. Tried some sugar (cookies) and coffee at the final aid station (about 2.5 miles from finish) but got no relief. Thankfully a friend walked up the trail and met me at about 1/2 mile out and walked with me on the way back. Conversation helped me stay somewhat alert. Inspite of pain in my ankles and knee I managed to run the last few steps across the timing mat. Amazing feeling to be done with the race. Now for a long recovery break and we’ll see what’s next!
Participated in the Madison Half Marathon yesterday - Enjoyed the event even though a bit cold. #orangemud

6 weeks, 6 races, so much fun & so many amazing people.
In the last 6 weeks I’ve run 162 race miles. From the first loop of Cuyamaca 100k (50ishk), @runrevel
Big Bear, @runnersworldmag
Grand Slam with the @altrarunning
Javelina 100k, @nyrr
Abott Daah to the finish 5k & to finally @ragnartrail
Los Coyotes. Plus traveling each of these weeks, including two trips to the east coast.
Dang, no wonder I’m so tired. My legs were pretty much toast this weekend at Ragnar & I struggled especially in my last & longest loop, the red loop. What I’ll remember from all of these races isn’t the number on the clock, but the people I got to meet & hang out with along the way.
Now to see if these legs will be ready to run 50k through the Marin Headlands this weekend should we be able to race. My thoughts are with all those who have been displaced, lost their homes & those families who lost loved ones throughout California due to the wild fires this weekend. 🙏🏻

This is the start of a new training session. Change my running routine, change how I am utilizing my gym time. The gym will be now 3 times a week with more of a traditional weight schedule, chest and tris, back and bis, legs, with shoulders and core throughout. It is absolutely amazing how only focusing on a couple muscle groups changes how a workout flows. I can actually say I’m sore leaving the gym today. 👍 push-ups were the last exercise I did and they were and absolute struggle. I haven’t been able to say that in months.
Incline dumbbell bench
Incline bench sit-ups.
If I could spend every day exploring it still wouldn’t be enough. I love, I want and I absolutely need to see and experience new vistas and explore new places.
