Took a quick trip to the Sonoran Desert. Desert colors are some of the best 💙💚💛🧡
...this past Thursday I was honored to be a part of the Marshall Gallery's "Southwestern Showcase", opening to a huge crowd that evening. I saw the wall full of my works and was transported- with a feeling of heat coming from that wall full of vibrant colors. A fantastic experience and my sincere thanks to the collectors who bought works! 🙏😎🎨🖼👏
Today’s showcase of the Saguaro National Park in Tucson features the letter “O”. Organ pipe cacti and Orioles.
I like big cacti and I cannot lie 🌵
Missing this view FA SHO. Going to Arizona makes me want to live there..... maybe 1 day.... #OrganPipeCactus
Early morning on a trail winding through a mosaic of craggy hills and desert flats. Who wouldn't want to do this? Peace and vistas for miles. The International Biosphere Reserve of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. #trailrunning #leukemiasurvivor #organpipecactus
New favorite cactus type :: Organ Pipe
I made this photo of Organ Pipe Cactus in the Sonoran Desert.
The image was then used to make a coffee mug at @society6
More of my pics were used in mug shots that my daughter and mother-in-law sent me...
Breakfast on the trail. A run from camp up to a nearby desert peak, arriving for the sunrise views across Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and into Mexico. Then....fuel. Bagels, dates, strawberries, and the best dried apples in the world. And fresh brewed coffee in a proper mug. An hour later, run back to camp and eat some more. #trailrunning #organpipecactus #leukemiasurvivor #cardiacathlete
Organ Pipe cactus can live up to 150 years, and will only produce their first flower near the age of 35. Like all night flowering cereus cacti found in the Sonoran Desert, the blooms of the Organ Pipe open at night and close by mid-day to retain moisture. Not leaving much time for day time pollination, the primary pollinator is the lesser-long nosed bat. An endangered species, the bats mate in south central Mexico Oct-Dec. then migrate to the Sonoran desert. Here the bats congregate in hot caves during the 6 month gestation period. At the peak of desert bloom, the mother gives birth to a single pup. #organpipecactus #lesserlongnosedbat #protectthepollinators #organpipenationalmonument
