OMG! So! Much! Fun!!! Whether you’re a #Spiderman
fan or not, you will love @spiderversemovie
! It’s PG rated Deadpool funny. Doesn’t take itself too seriously, but isn’t obnoxiously wisecrack-y either. 6 alternative universe versions team up to stop the Kingpin from destroying reality.
Out main hero is Miles Morales. We see his origin story, which includes a death (parents beware). For those who read the comics, Miles’ life is a bit complicated & it is the same here.
As a result of the Kingpin’s experiment gone wrong, other (more experienced) versions of spider-man end up on Miles’ Earth. We get a washed up Peter, who divorced Mary Jane. Spider-Gwen, a female version from an Earth where Peter died & she got bit. Noir Spider-man, voiced by Nick Cage in a Big Daddy way. Spider-Ham from a brief @marvel
attempt to be more little kid friendly in the 80s. And finally, a new (at least to me) Japanese robot version, complete with little girl controller.
Having just gotten his powers, Miles can’t control them, which makes him a liability. So, the #film
is about him stepping up & taking control of his life.
Even the villain doesn’t have the usual motivation. He’s trying to get his wife & son back, even if he has to get them from another universe.
runs just under 2 hours, but it flies by. The hip-hop soundtrack is great. Makes me want to get a song or two to hear again.
Like all #Marvel #movies
, stick around for the post-credit scene. Peter David fans will be happy.
Currently, my front runner for #BestAnimatedFeature
. But I haven’t seen any other contenders.
It opens wide this Friday. Go see it! #films #screening #screenings #SpidermanIntoTheSpiderverse #academyawards2018 #spidermanintothespiderversemovie #oscars2018 #Oscars
