Today is World Refugee Day.
It is a day to recognize the strength and courage of people who have to flee their home.
The book Communities of Solidarity: The Story of Pikpa Refugee Camp, is a unique book co-created by @_knutbry_
and a collective of photographers, activists and academics who came together as volunteers via @lesvossolidarity
at the Pikpa Refugee Camp.
This beautiful book offers a compelling narrative that invites us to question the ways in which we think about and relate to refugees. It puts forward a provocative argument about the power and practice of solidarity.
, known as “PIKPA camp”, is an open refugee camp in Mytilini, Lesvos (Greece), providing humanitarian support to the most vulnerable refugees including families with children, pregnant women, refugees with disabilities, refugees who suffer from serious medical conditions and victims of shipwrecks who lost loved ones in the sea.
Communities of Solidarity: The Story of Pikpa Refugee Camp can be bought at our museum store and all proceeds go directly to the Pikpa Refugee Camp.
