I am so stoked for the amazing images we're about to share with you over the coming days & weeks. It’s been an incredible season. I feel simultaneously sad that it’s fall, since it means I can count our remaining 2018 weddings on two hands, but also happy because winter is coming & that means we'll finally have some time to stop and let it all soak in. I already have so many ideas about things we wanna /tweak/stop/start/update/upgrade etc. but it’s mid September, so I have to keep scribbling in my 1 zillion notebooks, & sending emails & facebook pm's to myself (anyone else do this?) every time another idea strikes. I have to tuck them all away for later, because right now it’s like this;⠀
40 hrs a week of editing our full collections (98% Ryan) ⠀
40 hrs a week of working my day-job (Laine) ⠀
10+ hrs of travel + shooting time for each of our remaining weddings ⠀
Editing + preparing highlight galleries for blogging ⠀
Reviewing details + pre-wedding calls to go over logistics with our upcoming couples⠀
Pre-wedding prep + post-wedding gear/file maintenance⠀
General back & forth email communication (slower than normal right now, which drives me nuts too <3)⠀
Responding to 2019/20 inquiries ⠀
Meeting with 2019/20 couples, bc for some reason our peak booking season always falls smack in the middle of our busiest time of year 🙃⠀
Album design + revisions + ordering + quality checks + packaging/shipping ⠀
Last but not least: eating/sleeping/walking the dog/laundry (literally no other chores are happening right now, so if you pop by our house for an unexpected visit we will 100% hide & pretend to be away bc our house is hot a mess – love you though! ❤️⠀
I’m sure there’s more, you get the gist.⠀
I absolutely understand that these are all good problems to have, it means people are continuing to trust us to document an incredibly important moment in their lives, but I’m just saying, all you’re getting today is this fern. Thank you for your patience, understanding, love & support. If you are our clients, we are so grateful for you. If you are our friends/family, we love you & we are so excited to see you in November xo
Today’s featured artist is Jane Magee. Jane is an accomplished artist and apprentice of Gordon Harrison. Currently living in Manotick, Jane grew up in Montreal, Quebec. As a young girl she spent her summers at her family's cottage in Quebec, taking in the sights and sounds of the serene mountains and the busy little towns in the Laurentians and the Eastern Townships. Memories from Jane's childhood are often what dictate the direction of her art: quaint Quebec scenes, the magical colours of the Canadian seasons, les Cabanes à Sucre, nature. Her love of colour is one of the strengths of her art. Jane has worked extensively in pen and ink, watercolour, acrylic and oils.
Displayed at the gallery are beautiful examples of Jane’s oil on canvas creations. In particular, her painting titled “Les Toits des Laurentides” Collection 11” – 20h x 20w in a stunning one piece 3" espresso floater frame measuring 26"h x26"w, is a wonderful example of how she has captured the beauty and colour of the Laurentians.
Jane, along with fellow apprentices Tracey Kucheravy, Marie-France L’Ecuyer and Rosalie Olsen, has many other beautiful works on display at the gallery until the end of September. Stop by for a visit - you won't be disappointed you did!
