We trekked to the top and this was our view. We celebrated our hike by basking in the warm winter sun, eating lunch, then taking a short nap. The sun was there to warn us darkness would be coming so we made our way back down to the base and headed home. Good thing home was parked close by.
In our daily life routine, we sometimes “forget” to take advantage of the Pacific Ocean. And it only takes one trip to my favorite trail or a ride on the Pacific Coast Highway for the beauty of the coast to strike me again. We were planning to go away this weekend. Instead, we stayed home and spent each day either walking by the ocean or hiking in the mountains overlooking the ocean. We are grateful we don’t need to go far to feel peace in nature 🙏🏼💚
So I did this crazy thing yesterday. I climbed Mt. Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak, after not doing much hiking for a few months (e.g., not currently in fighting shape). I don’t know for sure what the total length (maybe 16 miles?) or elevation gain (maybe 5000 ft?) was, but I do know it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Three-ish miles in, I asked the guide what would happen if I couldn’t complete the trek. I was *that* sure I was not going to make it to the top.
But then I did.
So yea, this is a big ass braggy post about how I accomplished something I was 93% sure I was going to give up on at some point. While climbing some of the one million stairs I faced, I was actually figuring out how I was going to tell my folks and my friends that I didn’t make it. Which, whatever, would have been fine. But I don’t have to worry about what to say because I can just say I did it.
And clearly the view was amazing 🙃

The best part about this @andregreipel victory was his teammate Lars Bak saying before the stage, "16th of January is my birthday. 17 years as a professional rider. #TDU2018 it starts today🌞 Maybe I am a old dog 😉 But believe me #lottosoudal will do everything it takes, to get Andre Greipel to win today in Lyndoch"⠀

I don't want to give an impression that things are always good. Most of the time, it's just cold, damp, and downright exhausting. The pursuit for mortifying beauty comes at an exhilarating cost. We're here not because we are satisfied by the pain. We're here because in doing these things, we feel truly alive. And above all else, I think we all just want to live. – words of Enzo Cruz @iamenzocruz
He just said it all 💙 #wheremysoleis

Find someone who makes you realize three things: one, that home is not a place, but a feeling. Two, that time is not measured by a clock, but by moments. And three, that heartbeats are not heard, but felt and shared. // These waterfalls are so close to my house! It just goes to show that there are beautiful places everywhere, you just have to look.☺️ #wowinspired#explorealberta#explorecanada
