New paintings by @iman.raad
on view for the summer group show #OUTTHERE @filosofiarts
Come check it out:) On view today 12-7 pm Untitled, 2018, 25" x 49", Acrylic on plywood. • Iman Raad, (b. 1979, Mashad, Iran) received his MFA in Painting from Yale University. His work will be featured in the 9th Asia Pacific Triennal of Contemporary Art in Brisbane, Australia (2018) and is the Shandaken Projects Paint School Fellow (2018). His recent solo shows include Tongue Tied at Sargent's Daughters Gallery, NY and Dastan Gallery, Teheran.
His work presents a contradictory combination of beauty and fear. His work addresses humankind's anxieties by staging a traumatic scene of disturbance in reality. He foregrounds ornemental elements, inverting the art historical narrative of ornementation. Raad's work presents subjects like birds and fruits, that are extracted from traditionally decorative and neutral contexts and juxtaposed with present concerns and future plans.
