I recently realized that I’m the first #KonkaniBlogger
?! What’s “Konkani” you ask?
The Konkani people are a group of people in South India characterized by their language, culture and historically, by caste (abolished now). The Konkani language has no script, and is therefore passed down generations- morphing through time and region. The Konkani language has aspects of Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam (& more).
I remember hearing my first Bengali friend speak Bangla to here mom and I was SHOOK at how I understood the entire convo. Turns out Konkani and Bangla are just THAT similar. Who woulda thot I just needed other desi friends to teach me bout shit!?!?!
So this is a series I’m calling #UnseenMe
where I highlight the parts of my heritage and ancestry that are unseen by the regular societal eye.
🖤 I didn’t even ask him if it’d be okay to edit- but I hope you’re ok with it!!!! I hope that you like it as much as I do!!!!
PS I tried to make my tikla an artsy lil Ganesh 😂🙏🏽
