Thank you for loving my Gilgit trip so far! If you haven’t watched my travel VLOG already (but whyyyy would you do that??!! 🤔) then you can by checking my bio.
I have also written a (VERY!) detailed blog post about our trip which covers some tips on traveling with kids and otherwise to Northern Areas of Pakistan. (You can also get its link in my bio). .
So Day 4 was the one of the most adventurous and fun trip of our lives. When we left for Fairy Meadows. It was a car drive till Raikot, and then to Tatto Village a JEEP ride and then the Horse ride to Fairy Meadows. .
The Jeep Ride up to Tatto Village was super adventurous. It was such a rocky and rough terrain (20 times more rocky and dangerous than #Naltar
Valley’s terrain). It was in fact so narrow that only 1 Jeep could go on it. We had to wait at some spots (that allowed 2 jeeps to exist simultaneously) if we spotted another Jeep coming from the opposite direction to give it way. Can you imagine how adventurous it would be? If not yet, then imagine NOTHING on one side of the Jeep, other than a river flowing 100s of meters down!). Only skilled drivers, locals of this place, can actually drive in this terrain, to keep it safe for everyone. .
Lucky for us that our driver was the resident of Tatto Village because this village is not open to tourists otherwise, but because of him they opened their houses and hearts for us and let us inside. Tatto means hot in Shina language and it’s named because of the hot springs this village has. We saw the hot springs, boiled 4 eggs in the boiling hot spring water, and had them with tea and some cookies that one of the other resident very generously and warmly presented to us in his house.
We then moved forward to something even more adventurous. Remember the narrow terrain through which we came? Now narrow it furthermore a couple of feet so that only a horse could go on it. YUP! That narrow! So one could only trek (for 4-5 hours) or ride on a horse (for 2.5 hours) to go up to #FairyMeadows
from where the glorious #NangaParbat
is visible so beautifully. .
