Ever since I was a child, I've been very skeptical of any food that is made to be shared. In my eyes, every pizza pie is a personal pie, even this beauty from @eastvillagepizza

Let’s take a moment to taco bout’ what I had for breakfast this morning.🤪 This morning I ventured out to The Italian Market located in South Philly. I won’t lie, I was having a total fangirl moment because not only has Christina Martinez had her very own episode on the recent season of @chefstablenetflix
, she was also just named @eater_philly
Chef of the year 2018, and @bonappetitmag
named their tacos the top three best tacos in the COUNTRY! AND I AGREE 1000000% SO SKIP THAT @tacobell
AND CHECK OUT REAL TACOS! When we arrived there was a line but we patiently waited knowing very well it would pay off. Once you order your tacos (I got the Barbacoa and Pancita) and pay, you head over to the toppings bar where you can find cilantro, onions, cactus, peppers, and a red and green salsa. I love that @barbacoachef
has stuck to her roots. That’s what makes this place so so special. It’s all about showcasing their culture and letting the food speak for itself. And even with all the success and publicity, Christina Martinez and her husband are both still behind the counter, cooking up tacos and other delicious food for South Philly. If that’s admirable beyond words then I don’t know what is. Do yourself a favor and watch her episode of @chefstablenetflix

Last night my boyfriend took me to a restaurant where they mainly serve local and seasonal vegetables! (what an awesome idea right?!) Can you guess where this may be?
You guessed right! It’s 2018’s best Fine Dining Restaurant @vedge
according to @vegnews.
What I love most about @vedhe
is that they make vegetables the STARS of their dishes and really put thought into the many ways they can highlight every part of the vegetables. Most people think of vegetables as just a measly side dish or often throw away precious parts like the leaves or the roots... but not at @vedge.
Last night I saw vegetables in a completely different light and it gave me inspiration to start cooking with vegetables in new ways in my own kitchen!
Their menu is broken down into three sections. The Vedge bar which is made up of mostly cold or charcuterie style veggies, then we have the Dirt List which highlights single seasonal vegetables, and last but definitely not least, the Grill which showcases your “main entree”/ more composed dishes. I suggest getting about 4-5 dishes (if you’re dining with two people) total! Last night , we got their stuffed avocado with romesco, pickled riced cauliflower, black salt from the Vedge Bar. Then we moved onto the Trumpet mushrooms with tomatoes and basil from the Dirt List (pictured in the last picture). Lastly, for the main entree I ordered the wood roasted carrot (featured in the first picture) with pumpernickel, crushed garbanzos, carrot mustard, carrot kraut (I’m obsessed with that carrot kraut!!!!😍). Dalton got the Charred Chioggia Beets with buckwheat, smoked potato, green ajika, horseradish. I’ve never seen beets look more juicy than last night! They were amazing! •
