2018 and #NationalParkWeek
! 🌎 Today is a day we honor the Earth, its conservation & preservation - it was first celebrated on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the Northern hemisphere. This annual event is a great reminder for all of us to do our part - not just today, but every day & support those who care about environmental protection all over the world. 🙏🏼 I just want to warn you that I will probably continue to be annoying about the causes I care most about haha - I'm all about actions speaking louder than words and I'm a little mad at myself for not doing something about these issues sooner. It sure does humble and inspire me though when I'm able to join in on clean-up events for the environment (swipe left for the trash collected 🚯 picked up ~45 cigarette butts, used tissue, used McD's cup, different bottle caps & my favorite: someone's @alamorentacar
rental agreement in French from March 2016... crazy!). But, #EarthWeek
is a great reminder to be more mindful of the daily carbon footprint we are leaving behind, to refuse single-use (plastic straws, cups, to-go containers, etc.) and the different actions we can take to help preserve our beautiful planet for future generations to come. And for Heaven's sake, please pick up your cigarette butts when you're done smoking! 🚭😡 When possible... remember to reduce, reuse, recycle - there's no such thing as "away" when it gets thrown into the trash can. Always remember to leave it better than you found it!
And it's awesome that people enjoy the outdoors, but please be responsible - remember to pack it in and pack it out, never take more than you can carry, and (last, but not least) always practice #LeaveNoTrace
principles when exploring and enjoying the outdoors & our public lands!
