I still live in Taiwan but I’ll be posting pictures from my summer in Los Angeles and Portland over the next few weeks because there are still some quality spots I tried but haven’t raved about. Teote House Cafe is one place, which I discovered this summer with the help of my family, and the combination of patio, food and prices makes it one of my favorite summer places in Portland. Craving Latin American food real bad right now. || Pabellon Teote Bowl w/ arepa — slow-cooked beef brisket shredded with sweet peppers & onions over a bowl of rice, black beans, fried plantains, verde sauce, plantain sauce, cabbage salad, queso fresco and cilantro for a mouth-wateringly good bowl. Buttered arepa on the side. || 📍: @teote.pdx
(SE Portland, OR) ||💰: $9.50 (+$2 for arepa) || 📸: @bergmannbites
SO many happy campers at our tables - this is why we do what we do!! I love to curate suppers that are much more than just a meal... they are a space to gather with folks and make new friends, to honor the farmers and the land, to support other makers and growers, to learn a bit about our food and where it comes from 🍁💕🌿 we have ONE more supper this year. Saturday afternoon called for sushi - we got the Clinton Street (spicy albacore tuna, cucumber, avocado, salmon, masago, ponzu sauce & green onion) AND the Yuzu Hamachi (hamachi, cucumber, avocado, green onion, yuzu kosho and unagi sauce)🍣
Local farmers markets are one of my favorite things to see when I visit new (or old) places. What might be an ordinary errand is really a great peek into the local culture and produce - a literal sampling of the local flavor.
Can't go to Jin Wah without ordering the salt and pepper fried squid/shrimp.
Finally made it to wiz bang bar! The chocolate waffle cone was chocolatey. Reminded me of an oreo with a hint of coffee. Which makes sense because coffee brings out the flavor of chocolate. I loved the raspberry shell. It had a bright raspberry flavor that was delicious with everything else. The only thing i would change is I would eat it in a bowl. Mostly because i like to wear my food and I was a mess by the time I was done. Totally worth checking it out. #saltandstraw #softserve #softserveicecream #oreo #pdxeats #nomnomnom #getinmybelly #yum #anniversary
after 4 yrs of putting it off, I finally went to @oxpdx.
there, we ordered the smoked beef tongue a la vinagreta and i was confronted with the strangest memory. lunch at my grandma’s house for a special occasion, the table lined with sliced beef tongue (dolloped w/ mayonnaise), sculpted olivier (Оливье), pickles etc. except this dish is all refined, as if to accommodate for my childhood repulsions. the meat, sliced paper thin, but somehow still adorned with my favorite childhood salad, gussied up with sweetbread croutons, almost reminiscent of calamari. I’m still not sure how this dish ended up at an Argentinian restaurant, but I’m really here for it thanks for reading my life story #pdxeats #eaterpdx
The warm fuzzies you get when you realize that, band and venues aside, all of your wedding vendors were women that owned their own businesses 💕
Weather aside, one of the reasons I love Portland is because of the vast amount of artists, chefs, and entrepreneurs that live and work here. There are some many great shops and restaurants, tons of hidden gems, and an abundance of female-owned businesses. I was reading an article on the interwebs the other day that sited a recent study showing at 12 percent increase in year-over-year revenue for women-owned businesses and several other studies that found that companies perform better when led by women. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m not surprised...😏 #americanbusinesswomensday
Somehow, Sunday night tacos make an impending Monday morning seem slightly more bearable. 🌮🌮🌮

Sam Vasquez, owner of Beaverton's Boriken Restaurant, serves up the flavors of 🇵🇷Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 in a special and unexpected oasis right off Canyon Road. For Beaverton Restaurant Week he's offering a Puerto Rican cod fish salad and we definitely recommend putting this on your list! #beavertoneats

snapped our Tres Salsas con Pan, which is our potato-quinoa bread with mani (peanut), maracuya (passion fruit), and verde (jalapeño) sauces. Gracias!
Okay. I definitely lack originality. My kids are so picky and these are “supplemental” lunches as they get hot lunch at school every day but they are slow to adapt. I’m looking for your cute, easy, simple ideas for @bentoboxforkids
boxes. #bentoboxlunch #bentokids
ALSO: please no scenery or panda bear sandwiches. Basic, simple foods are best! #tia #help
The ocean holds all the kings. 🌊👑
Back at it with my partner in crime. 🍔
The Queen's Cocoa is here! One of our favorites is this amazingly chocolate, orange, almond cookie! It's made with @momo_cocoa_co
I ❤ elk, heart. This amazing elk, will feed me all through the next year. I couldn't be more grateful for such clean, healthy, low fat, organic protein. Eat your heart out. #pdxeats #ieatelk #archeryelk #carnivore
Though fandom fiestas will always be my specialty, I love being able to create meaningful menus for events like last night: a benefit to help raise money for state-of-the-art leg braces for a man affected by a terrible accident. I featured dishes that celebrated all the favorite things our guest of honor loves to do, and will be able to again with this amazing technology: hunting, fishing, and camping. I'm told that the donors present raised a huge amount of funds! Thank you for having us be part of a wonderful evening (in a beautiful setting, I might add). #pdxeats #pdxfood #catering #portlandfoodie
Well now that half of my hunting season is over, ya'll will have to put up with an abundance of wild game cooking photos. Have you eaten elk heart? I ❤ elk. All of it. Its a delicious and amazing part of the animal, you should never overlook it, or overcook it. #ieatelk #pdxeats #archeryelk #carnivore
