When they ask me about you,
I mostly don't know where to begin with,
so I tell them your name,
and let their imagination take over.
A town situated somewhere,
in the heart of the Dhauladhars,
where eagles come to wake me up,
every morning—without fail.
Where I prefer walking for an hour—
to go take a dip in a glacier lagoon in the mornings,
instead of showering with hot water,
where the universe maintains a perfect balance,
between the Gaddis and the Tibetans,
while accommodating the likes of me—
wanderers who've finally found a home.
Here I've found everything I need to survive,
only to realise that I don't want much,
only to realise that all this while—
I never really knew what I was capable of.
So Dear Universe,
here I am,
thanking you once again,
for giving me something I can call home,
something that's worth travelling 1400+ kms,
in two days,
without a break.
While waiting for my bus here in Delhi, I'm day dreaming about winters in Mcleodganj. Tomorrow, I'll be home.
(Ready to go hiking again?)
