Not the picture you might expect to express this word.
Yet we're stuck on the highway in Germany now.
A very bad accident happened about 60 cars ahead.
There have been so many firetrucks, ambulances police cars, and even multiple choppers, it's overwhelming to me. As we just left the birthday party of my uncle, like everyone else, and my Dutch family moves in two cars back home.
Before we left we went to this beach at the Schweriner See, where my sister and I and my cousins have played every time when we visited our grandparents who lived just a stone's throw away. I collected some stones, sand and shells to bring to the cemetery, our last stop before heading home.. My sister and I washed the tombstone, my mom put flowers on it, we shed some tears because it's always sad to talk to your ancestors while looking down on them.
Then we went to the toilet, and this is the most important part of the story, my dad took so long on this one toilet outside of the crematorium that I almost got mad at him, yet he was rinsing the old flower pots that they had put on the grave the last time.. so our departure took just a few minutes longer than planned.
And in these few minutes this terrible accident happens.
So no perfect picture but a picture to show the beauty of life; my photo bombing crabman, being ridiculous, taking time off with family, keeping a positive spirit and a heart full of gratitude and empathy.
I don't know if any of the people who've been in this accident have survived, but it's yet another example of how quickly it all can pass.
Life IS beautiful. You just have to see it. Embrace it. Really, I mean it. (Your) life, (your) existence is the most beautiful thing there is.
So much love,
