People who have sedentary jobs, sitting for long periods of time, may find that their glutes become weak.
I find this problem with many clients and usually one of the first things I notice and address straight away.
Weak glutes can lead to lower back pain,hip pain and even knee and ankle pain. Most have no idea that their butt could be to blame!
The glutes primary functions are to:
- Abduct at the hip
-Extend at the hip
-Externally rotate at the hip
Doing glute activation exercises before your big lifts in your main workout will help to effectively 'wake them up,' get them firing and make your workouts wayyyy more productive. Especially if you want a nice 🍑
If you often experience hamstring cramp or lower back discomfort when performing a simple glute bridge then this post is for you!
Shown in the video are some of my favourite exercise to fire all three muscles that make up the glutes using a resistance band( I've got heavy but you can use a lighter one)
2 rounds of 10 reps each exercise 💁🏻 squeeeeze!
1️⃣ BODYWEIGHT SQUAT- use the band to push your knees against as you drive up
2️⃣ GLUTE BRIDGE - again use the band to push against as you drive your hips up. After 10 reps, hold for 10 seconds at the top 🔥
3️⃣ SINGLE LEG HIP BRIDGE- I've used a foam roller to be able to drive my hips up higher, hold for 5 seconds each side
5️⃣ KICK BACKS
6️⃣ LATERAL LEG RAISES

I’m not yet where I want to be, (is anyone ever fully there), though have been making huge strides with my health, fitness & energy levels on a plant based diet. I wish for all my clients / family / friends and all, to enjoy the benefits of cutting out meat & dairy to see what their body can achieve. With a little planning & care, you can easily make the change.
On this note a big thanks to @e5_explorer for making that change towards a healthier, more plant based diet (paired with an excellent strength training program) - he is now seeing those improvements himself, having dropped another 5% body fat in just a few months and feeling lighter, stronger & more energetic than ever before. (Also thanks for taking this photo 👋🏼)
SLOW AND STEADY PROGRESS IS ALWAYS BEST 💪
So I get lots of requests from individuals wanting help in their fitness goals, especially those who have not done exercise in a very long time. One point that always comes out is the length of time it can take to achieve your goal. Well the truth is everyone is different, and steady progress over time is always better than the quick transformations for long term success in my opinion anyway. That’s not to say you can’t get results quickly, far from it. It depends if a whole host of lfactors such as nutrition, exercise, willpower and determination to succeed. What I say to individuals especially those that are starting from fresh is “no matter what their goal is, or how fit and strong they are, that your always going to be fitter and stronger than the person that’s decided to sit on the couch....🤸🏾♀️ SO WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

Good morning everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a fab weekend. My dinning table was madness this morning, full of papers from admin work yesterday so went for an outdoor photo which had as a background a layer of snow from the weekend ❄️❄️ Is still so cold though! This morning I went for onion and spinach egg white omelette with a side salad topped with avocado.
Why do I love egg whites so much?
1. High in protein, low fat and low calorie so perfect for fat loss and weight maintenance
2. Neutral flavour, goes well in sweet or savoury dishes
3. Easy to digest
4. I just love them!

It's good to have long term goals, it's what can motivate us, but while you are working towards that goal do you pay attention to the whole process or just getting to the end? Does the end really make you happy once you get there?

I don't stretch enough, you don't stretch enough, we ALL pretty much, don't stretch enough. The dumb thing is, you can totally do it while doing other things, ie. Brushing your teeth, watching telly and so on. PLUS I put a video together with some nice stretches, I can't link it here so you'll have to go to YouTube and search 'Mattboyles1' - catchy name huh?
There's nothing a roast can't resolve specially on a cold wintery day like today ❄️❄️ I've spent the day at home working on my business. I managed to complete quite a few tasks while roasting an amazing leg of lamb which was slow cooked for 3h. This was so amazing! Leg of lamb with roasted potatoes and vegetables 😋😋
