Stretching is important!⠀
It's good for your body:⠀ ✅Helps improve flexibility (increases your range of motion)⠀
✅Assists in correct posture by lengthening tight muscles that pull areas of the body away from their intended position⠀
✅Has the potential to decrease injury by preparing muscles for work before activity⠀
✅Increases blood and nutrient supply to muscles, thereby possibly reducing muscle soreness⠀
And good for your mind:
✅Even a short amount of time (10-15 minutes) of stretching can calm the mind, provide a mental break, and give your body a chance to recharge⠀
✅Classes like yoga and pilates offer you a chance to spend an hour releasing tension physically and mentally⠀
Is it really A STRETCH for you to start doing it? (Sorry, couldn't resist!)⠀
Exciting news! We are now open every Saturday! So go ahead and book any emergency dental treatment or if you are just busy on the weekdays! Go to website in bio to book!
Have you ever suffered from a sprained ankle? Have you always been slightly weaker on that ankle since the injury? ⠀
Chances are you haven't done enough rehab.⠀
Spraining/ rolling/ twisting your ankle often results in one or more ligaments being damaged. It can happen suddenly during sport, falling over something in the street or wearing uncomfortable shoes (e.g. heels that are too high) and often pain is felt immediately and is intense. ⠀
After suffering from an ankle injury, its common to return to regular activity when the pain has subsided - but often people complain of always being weaker or more susceptible to ankle injuries on that side.⠀
Here are a few tips on what to work at to prevent injuries occurring and reoccurring!⠀
1) BALANCE. Standing on one foot you can begin to see how your balance differs from each side. If you feel comfortable then you can close your eyes to increase the intensity.⠀ ⠀
2) COORDINATION. You and a partner can help work each others balance and coordination. Place different coloured objects in front, behind and to the side. Stand on one leg and have your partner say the colour they would like you to touch with the toes of your other foot. You can increase the speed to make things harder. Always face the same way and have your elevated leg do all the work.⠀
3) STRENGTH. When in the gym work also work single legged. For example when doing squats or calf raises, do each leg separately. You lifting weight will need to be decreased and each side may vary. It is common for muscle dysfunctions to be disguised when training both legs at the same time.⠀
4) FLEXIBILITY AND SCAR TISSUE. Scar tissue can reduce joint flexibility. This can have a negative effect on the body as it is more rigid than regular ligamentous structures. This means that if you were to roll over on your ankle again then the likelihood of another injury happening is increased as there is no give in the scar tissue. ⠀
Scar tissue and flexibility can be increase through exercise programmes combined with specific massage techniques. If you would like to find out more then drop us a PM or make a booking through our website. 💪

We're spending more time sitting down than ever - we need to move!⠀
You don't need to run a marathon every weekend, or hit the gym seven days a week.⠀
But our bodies aren't designed to sit down all the time. ⠀
Go for a walk after dinner. Swim in the ocean. Play soccer with your kids in the garden.⠀
Sit less. Move more.
We might be pretty active people, but trust me; we're big advocates for rest, too!⠀
Consider this your reminder to take the time to look after yourself when you need to. We live in a busy world! ⠀
You know how I'm always banging on about the importance of moving? Read this! ⬇️ #Repost @crossfitlonghaulmaddington
Marie showing us all how it’s done this morning 😎
It is SO important to keep your body moving in your later years. Ever heard the term ‘use it or lose it?’ It’s real! 😬 As you age, your muscles, bones and movement declines at a faster rate.
Marie is here 3 days a week making sure she maintains her weight after her epic weight loss journey. But she also enjoys the benefits of improved bone density, strong muscles, stability in her joints, healthy heart function and the ability to continue jumping, stepping, pulling, pushing and all the other movements she trains that allows her to live life at her highest capacity.
It’s not all about how you look. Being self sufficient, safe and being able to control the wild grandkids are all super important 😛
Want to stay fit and strong way into your future? Come in for a chat:
Weight training isn't for for women, right?⠀
In fact, it's something that women should ABSOLUTELY be doing. It's super important when it comes to building strength - and certainly isn't just for athletes. ⠀
Worried about "bulking up"? Don't.
Weight training will TONE your body through increased muscle mass, but you need to do other things to *really* get big guns 😆
We have moved! Our Monday training sessions are now taking place at the beautiful St Hilda’s swimming pool from 6:30pm. Come join us for a splash! 🤽🏼♀️
