Have you been to Madame Vo in the East Village?! Just discovered this gem and it has to be the best Vietnamese I’ve had in the city. Hands down.
Must haves: the salt and pepper soft shell crab (even though the salted calamari is good, it pales in comparison to the crab and the crab is a great value too); chicken wings in a garlic fish sauce (perfectly seasoned and very flavorful); the fried spring rolls (just ‘cause); the pho (which is absolutely amazing and in a 24-hour simmered broth)—side note this pho is the perfect cure to a hangover; and the seared ribeye served with a fried egg! I can’t emphasize enough how awesome this meal was.
ProTip: add the supplemental short rib to the pho for $5—totally worth it, it’s a huge rib and they upsize the bowl—and get a delicious Vietnamese Iced Coffee for your caffeine fix! :::
Side note—if you’re looking for a banh mi though, look elsewhere as it’s not on the menu. #vietnamesefood#brunchnyc#softshellcrab#pho#eater#eaterny
