This was me earlier this week, doing my best to fill the seats for a luncheon, sending out reminders via PM’s ... watching the delivery ✔️ turn to faces of message read and no replies... In a world of real time, instant response expectations aka social media where we may perceive replies must be immediate, really isn’t realistic... running an events venue and business we constantly get messages and calls when we are not actually in the office but attending to events or other matters. Our lunch numbers had a deadline, the fact many didn’t reply is simply a fact, but I did not get annoyed, it’s a busy time of year, the reason people don’t reply on viewing could be many!
Having been on the end on various occasions of the social media immediacy expecting a reply, even when yes Im asleep haha - I recognize people are busy and have other things they are attending to in that moment/day!
Our world is very instant, but people are human, we do need to sleep, eat, be with family and can only do what we can within each business day. Social media allows us to connect on a whole other level, but immediate replies outside auto responses simply aren’t always possible - 24 hours more likely.
We are very fortunate to have found ourselves being a very busy in demand venue and every Tuesday morning we log all the calls and emails and begin in order to reply to all, that have come in and continue during business hours to do so until Friday comes and the events begin again. If you need a venue or any service our advice is book ahead and be mindful that if you don’t connect immediately leave a message be it by phone, email or socials so the service can reply during their business hours
