SINGLE LEG WALL SWISS BALL 🎾 SQUAT // A great functional variation to the free single leg squat, typically used to treat and manage patellofemoral pathologies. The focus here is on keeping the lateral portion of the knee pushing into the Swiss ball, activating the external rotators of the hip. Throughout the squat, the hip, knee and ankle should all remain in alignment, keeping weight back through the heel. Aim for 2 x 8-10 on each side 🏋🏼‍♂️

FASTER ANKLE SPRAIN RECOVERY TIPS Almost everyone has experienced an ankle injury, from a mild strain to major ligament damage. Once the injury has occurred, patients want to recover as quickly as possible. Below are some basic steps of ankle injury rehabilitation that will help you in your comeback journey. OUCH: The first 24-48 hours after the injury is considered a critical treatment period and activities need to be limited. RANGE OF MOTION: The first step toward recovery is to regain normal ankle mobility. Mobility can be limited by pain and swelling; therefore, in order to effectively treat restricted motion, try to address pain and swelling. After ankle injuries, range of motion activity should start as soon as possible. STRENGTH: Once motion has been achieved and swelling and pain has reduced, you should start strengthening the ankle. Ankle-strengthening exercises can help prevent reinjury and return you to normal activities. PROPRIOCEPTION: This is your body's ability to sense the position of a joint. Good proprioceptive training can help prevent your ankle from getting into positions where sprains and injuries are more likely. Without restoring proprioceptive sensation, athletes often feel that there are ankle is not as strong, even if the muscles are just fine. SPORTS-SPECIFIC: The final stage of recovery from an ankle injury is to perform specific activities that mimic movements of your chosen sport. This may include drills aimed at cutting, pivoting, or jumping. It is important to perform these activities in a simulated environment before returning to your normal sports activities. COMEBACK: In general, try to achieve the following goals before returning to your normal sports routine: • No more swelling • Normal joint motion • Normal joint strength Don’t rush your rehab. Make it a comeback story! 💪😎

Whether you are aiming to improve some endurance and awareness through the midline (abs) or the shoulders, it is a great isometric gold which can be challenging. Assume a push up position. Lean your body weight forward. Create protraction st the shoulder (think of pushing the floor away with your shoulders). Hold- aim for 20-30 seconds & repeat 3-4 times with a rest period. As you improve, increase the duration of the hold. Plus, it might help get you some arms like @roxyfromoz 😉💥🔥

Wir sind nun ein letztes Mal in der Vorlesung zum Thema "lahmheiten des Bewegungsapparats beim Hund" in Hamburg 🤗 Die Vorlesungen waren super anstrengend; weil man sehr viele detaillierte anatomische Grundlagen und natürlich Krankheiten lernt 📝 Der Dozent ist jedoch so gut und lustig; macht die Vorlesungen so lebendig, dass man selbst nicht merkt, dass man 4 Tage lang 8 Stunden in der Uni sitzt 🙏🏼 So soll es ja auch sein! Heute Mittag treten wir dann unsere 800 Kilometer lange Heim Reise an 😩🤗 Wir wechseln uns ab mit dem fahren und müssen sowieso kleine Pausen machen wegen Lilli 🐶 Während der Fahrt hören wir meistens Hörbücher, lesen Zeitungen und essen was das Zeug hält 😂 Seid ihr fit bei langen Auto Fahrten oder ist das gar nicht euer Ding? Wunder geschehen! 🧡 Aufmerksame BeobachterInnen konnten die letzten Wochen feststellen, dass unsere Pausenfee Regina (links im Bild) seit diesem Jahr nicht mehr im PZW Wien vor Ort werkt. ➡️ Wieso ist das so? Vor drei Jahren musste Regina einen harten Schicksalsschlag ertragen. Ihr Sohn Arian kam eines Nachmittags nicht mehr nach Hause. Arian ist Autist und arbeitete zu diesem Zeitpunkt in einer betreuten Einrichtung. Die letzten 1145 Tage waren für Regina und ihre Familie geprägt durch unermüdlichen Suchaktionen und Recherchen. Bis 28.12.2018! ✨ Kurz nach Weihnachten erhielt Regina die erlösende Nachricht: Arian ist wohlauf und lebt in Mailand! 🍀 Verständlicherweise hat Regina und Family nun viele Dinge zu reorganisieren. Um diese Dinge zu tun, Zeit für die neu zusammengefundene Familie zu erhalten und eine glückliche Zukunft zu planen haben wir eine herzliche und wunderbare Nachbesetzung in Ida (rechts im Bild) gefunden. A new client had sprained her ankle, but instead of the usual ATFL (anterior talofibular ligament) injury she had injured her deltoid ligament. When she did the Single Leg Stance (SLS) she fell right into over pronation. NKT testing showed an over active peroneus longus (foot pronation) and an under active TFL (tensor fascia latae), a hip abductor. Released the peroneus and activated the TFL. That helped, but the SLS was still iffy. Then I worked on the deltoid ligament, and that was the final piece of the puzzle. She was now able to do the SLS almost perfectly. When someone sprains their ankle there is often a loss of dorsiflexion. This loss comes from not only tight calf muscles but also overloaded ankle ligaments and/or a compressed ankle joint. My client had injured both ankles going down the stairs with too many kids and too much stuff. Dorsiflexion was limited, and she had heel pain as well. I immediately thought of the soleus because of the heel pain. NKT testing showed bilateral overworking soleus muscles, along with weak abs. Toe gripping/plantar flexing is a common compensation strategy for weak abs. Released the soleus bilaterally and activated the abs. Although her calf muscles felt better, her dorsiflexion was still limited. Then I worked on the deltoid ligament of the ankle, which was very locked up. After mobilizing the ankle joint she tried dorsiflexion again. Way better! But, there’s a bit of a way to go yet until he’s back playing ⚽️ and running regularly🏃🏾‍♂️ . He’s worked hard on balance, learning how to walk again and his legs are stronger than ever 💪 . This isn’t overkill though. Jordan needs to be stronger than ever as his injury was down to an anatomical problem, his heel bone 🦴 was too loose and moved around way too much when he walked or ran 🤕 . Following surgery to put it right, he’s built up his strength, improved his ankle control and is now back to some easy running🤟 . My client did a walking tour in a group and noticed after the week trip was over that her right groin, right inner knee, and left lower back were hurting. She even went to the gynecologist because the groin pain was so bad. Of course nothing was wrong, or was it? NKT testing showed overworking adductors, specifically the pectineus and adductor magnus, an overworking left quadratus lumborum, and an under working right psoas. The adductors are synergists for hip flexion, so when the psoas fails they compensate. The pectineus explained the groin pain, and the magnus the knee. It's common for the opposite QL to brace for the psoas. Released the pectineus, magnus, and QL, then activated the psoas. How To Keep Your Joints Healthy and Where Chiropractic Fits In . This week we covered flexibility, ligament laxity and how to keep your joints healthy . We talked about how some joints have different SYMMETRY and that the ball and socket socket of the hip is much more stable and less mobile that the looser fitting ball and socket joint in the shoulder . Less stable joints require better muscles control and activation to make up for looser ligaments or a poorer fit between the joint surfaces . What about the spine 😯 where the joints are flat and relatively less stable and require a lot of neuromuscular support to keep them close together and moving properly while the body moves . This is where the core muscles are so important and keep the joints coordinated and in a safe position . However, with core weakness, inactivity leading to poor joint and nerve health and declining function of spine, the nervous and muscular system that project the spine and stop doing their job and poor function leads to injuries . A big part of Corrective Chiropractic Care is correcting the underlying function of the spine so that the muscles and nerves function properly, which allows for the proper protection and function of the spine without thinking about it . Even when someone is very flexible and has some degree of ligament laxity, Corrective Chiropractic Care has a role in restoring normal function and resetting the nervous system. The point isn’t to get rid of pain or move a stiff and immobile joint, but to restore normal function . Even if the spine is flexible doesn’t mean that it is necessarily healthy: you have to test the joints and the nerves to know for sure. That is why flexible and stiff people alike experience spine problems - it’s all relative and the nerves need to be healthy in a flexible joint too .
