Alguns estudos epidemiológicos realizados com tenistas profissionais têm mostrado que as mulheres tendem a sofrer um maior número de lesões do que os homens, principalmente quando consideramos as lesões de membros superiores. Gescheit e colaboradores em 2017, evidenciou que, enquanto o ombro e o punho estavam entre as três regiões corporais mais acometidas por lesões entre as mulheres, entre os homens os locais mais comumente lesados foram joelho e tornozelo. Os autores do estudo discutem que, apesar de as lesões esportivas sempre serem multifatoriais, diferenças técnicas e táticas entre homens e mulheres podem contribuir para as lesões. Um exemplo dessas diferenças está no fato de as mulheres apresentarem menores velocidades de movimento e menor força absoluta quando comparado aos homens. Segundo os próprios autores, essas diferenças fazem com que as mulheres tenham menos tempo para preparar a execução ideal do golpe, o que pode alterar o ponto de contato com a bola e prejudicar o posicionamento das articulações nesse momento, gerando maior sobrecarga em certas regiões corporais, como o ombro e o punho, por exemplo. Nas fotos abaixo é possível observar o forehand de atletas de ambos os sexos. Nota-se que a amplitude de movimento para preparação da raquete é maior entre as mulheres, o que pode ser uma estratégia para gerar maior potência nos golpes, porém devido a menor velocidade de movimento que elas apresentam, o posicionamento das articulações no contato com a bola também parece ser diferente, o que pode gerar uma sobrecarga e contribuir para o desenvolvimento de lesões. Para evitar essas lesões o melhor caminho é a prevenção, a qual é planejada de forma individual, visando corrigir deficiências técnicas, neuromusculares e articulares, podendo contribuir também para maior eficiência e melhora do desempenho dentro de quadra. There are a lot of fad treatments that come and go. There are even some that hang around despite a large stack of evidence stating they do very little if anything. A hallmark of many of these treatments is that they tend to reduce many complex problems down to a single simple fix. Many of these treatments are focused at the treatment of pain. This is despite the fact that pain is a complex multidimensional experience, but because experiences can be modified through context and expectations there tends to be a nice scenario for post hoc reasoning. In the vast majority of cases you can’t cut out and experience. You can’t cup out an experience. You cant crack out an experience. You can’t tape an experience away. You can’t needle it out. When we go against the odds with common sense and outmost respect for the body, it provides us with jaw dropping results. Ed had a grade 5 left AC joint separation from a mountain bike accident, had it repaired two days later, in a sling for a week and was told by his surgeon not to remove his arm out of the sling for 6 weeks. Ed is a father of a newborn boy, a business owner and a supportive husband who is determined to provide a helping hand to his family and he felt his left needed to join the right. What was advised to him did not make sense to him, what was advised made sense only to the provider but not the recipient. This disconnect can keep people away from their body’s potential as they take everything said to them with heart, but Ed decided to challenge this advice only because it didn’t feel just right, he needed to feel the left:) The rest is where we are at now, against the odds, he went back to his surgeon, who’s jaw dropped after mine. Onwards and upwards we move with the arm 👍😉. Never take “you can’t” for an answer, feel first & move accordingly.

Formada por 33 vértebras, a coluna vertebral possui curvaturas próprias, desenvolvidas na infância. A coluna do ser humano é dividida em quatro regiões, cada uma com uma determinada quantidade de vértebras. São elas: lordose cervical, com 7 vértebras; cifose torácica, com 12; lordose lombar, com 5 e cifose sacrococcígea, com 5 vértebras formando o sacro e 4 fundidas, formando o cóccix. Ao nascer, o homem possui a coluna reta e uma curvatura cifótica, em formato de “C” ao ser vista de perfil. Com a necessidade de levantar a cabeça ao engatinhar, o bebê desenvolve uma curvatura chamada lordose cervical. Ao andar, o apoio dos quadris (essencial para a centralização do centro gravitacional e ao equilíbrio) é fundamental. Para isso, a coluna ganha mais uma curvatura, a lordose lombrar. Já na adolescência, fase da puberdade e do estirão, é frequente a quantidade de jovens que acabam acentuando a curvatura torácica, por vergonha do corpo ou má postura. A acentuação dessa curvatura resulta na hipercifose ou corcunda. caso os desvios sejam laterais, têm-se a escoliose. A patologia escoliose consiste em um desvio tridimensional, em três planos do espaço, da coluna. Os exames identificam uma coluna torcida para os lados e para frente ou para trás. Quando não há uma causa encontrada (cerca de 70% dos casos), a escoliose é chamada de idiopática. É durante os estirões que há mais chances do aparecimento da escoliose. O tratamento varia de acordo com a sua “agressividade”: com qual angulação foi descoberta, quanto ainda tem para crescer e outros fatores. O mais importante é “bloquear” a evolução da escoliose, pois é na fase adulta que as dores surgem. Adductor mobility to improve your sumo deadlift with repthereds This can be a common area of tightness and limitation when deadlifting, give this sequence a try and watch your mobility improve. 1. Adductor Rock Back. Make sure to keep your back flat and slowly rock back until you feel a stretch. 2. Hip flex/abd CARS. Attempt to raise the knee as high as you can while maintaining neutral spine. Then rotate the leg out as far as you can without rotating the rest of the body. 3. Hip abduction lift off is a great way to actively improve your hip motion. Keep your back flat the whole time and only move at the hip. 4. Episode 722: World's Greatest Stretch Tag someone that needs to improve their mobility game! 🌎 's greatest stretch has been popularized for a great reason! It is one of the best bang for your buck flow's to help mobilize the hips, thoracic spine, and shoulders. Follow this step-by-step guide to perform this efficient flow. 1️⃣ Double Hip opener: try to keep your back leg as straight (extended) as possible to stretch the hip flexors. For the front hip, really drive your elbow down to open up the hips into flexion as much as possible.  2️⃣ Thoracic spine rotation via the shoulder: you should be ACTIVE throughout each movement and thoracic spine rotation is no different. Build tension in the shoulder girdle and use your down arm to protract your scapula and rotate your torso towards the front leg.  3️⃣ Hamstring stretch: nothing fancy here. Try and keep your knee as straight as possible. If it's tight like mine, you won't be going anywhere.  4️⃣ Hip flexor stretch: Reach up as HIGH as you can, in addition to side-bending away from the leg that is to be stretched. Lunging in to the front leg will assure that your pelvis is locked-out and you are avoiding compensation from your low back.  Repeat for 5 repetitions on each side and see how you feel after.
