Ate a meal on the floor? ➡️ Sitting is something many of us take for granted. Sitting isn’t inherently bad, it’s all about the DOSE and POSITION. ➡️ Sitting in chairs and on couches (typical ~90 degree sitting) for long periods of time each day is the big culprit for mobility restrictions and one of the main root causes of musculoskeletal dysfunction. 🔑 Replacing some of your time in the typical sitting position with sitting on the floor is a great way to naturally maintain mobility: • Sitting on the floor forces you to be dynamic and keep switching positions. • It makes you adapt to being able to actually spend time on the floor. Developing comfort on the floor requires time spent here to accommodate your body to it. • It forces you to utilize a wider variety of positions - especially hip positions. • It allows you to explore some passive hip mobility drills without even thinking about it. For instance, the 9090 position, bear sit, and cross legged position are all examples of hip mobilizations that are easy to accomplish if you are already down there. ✅ Start slowly. Replace some couch or chair sitting with some floor sitting. #Repost @stefanduell ・・・ THORACIC OUTLET SYNDROME - COSTOCLAVICULAR SYNDROME - OSTEOPATHIC DISTRACTION MANIPULATION OF THE CERVICO-THORACIC-JUNCTION HVLA First of all, I’d like to mention that I do not use these kind of techniques very often, as I have found out over the years that functional myofascial release treatment combined with medical training therapy works much better, especially in a long term! Nevertheless, in a very few situations I still use manipulation techniques. Also, I want to point out, referring to several studies and research, that the popping sound you hear when having your spine manipulated/adjusted is nothing more than a pressure change in the facet joints, just like popping the joints of your hands. It has nothing to do with correcting the alignment of the spine! The C7-T1 spinal segment, also referred to as the Cervico-Thoracic-Junction (CT-Junction), is located at the very bottom of the neck. More specifically, this is where the neck (cervical spine) connects with the upper back (thoracic spine). Before you perform this kind of technique, you should make sure to have released all myofascial structures which can cause a CT-Junction problem as I explained in my previous post about the intrinsic back muscles. Usually, if you do a proper myofascial release treatment, the CT-Junction won’t cause a problem any more, but sometimes it still can. If so, it requires a high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) thrust technique, otherwise it can even force lumbar, cervical or shoulder problems. The patient is seated, almost the same hight then the therapist. The patient places his hands behind the neck and then the therapist wheels through the space in front of the shoulders and applies a distraction force! HIP STRETCHES TO IMPROVE YOUR SQUAT DEPTH • Hip stiffness is one of the main problems I hear from people when they squat in the gym. It prevents them from getting enough depth, therefore reducing the total range you are strengthening the muscles 👎. Here is a sequence of stretches you can use as a warmup before your workout or use this as a daily routine to improve your hip range of motion 🙌. • There are anatomical factors for not being able to reach a deep squat, such as variations in the femoral neck angle . These are not modifiable 😷. However, most of the time our tightness comes from a stiff hip joint and tight groin, glutes, piriformis, and hamstrings. This is because in an average day, we stay within 1 plane of movement: stepping forward, backward, sitting up and down 🚶. We're missing lateral and rotational movements which is why our hips can become stiff. Together they extend the spine and stabilize the trunk in flexion movements. Separately they will produce side-bending to the same side. • When you walk and stand take notice of the position of your hips. In this position these muscles will begin to atrophy. • Keep your hips neutral and stand up straight as you walk. I love this sequence because you’re using 3 different joints to drive the movement. - 1️⃣ LEG DROPS - Keep both legs as straight as possible while keep the ankles flexed. Hold one leg in place while you lower the other leg. Avoid flexing the knees. - 2️⃣ HEEL DRIVES - Same setup as the leg drops, however start with one leg down. Keep the ankles flexed, drive the top legs heel toward the ceiling. - 3️⃣ ANKLE CIRCLES - Perform a basic ankle circle while at the bottom of your leg drops position. The movement in the ankle will extract more range through the hamstring. - ✅ MAKE IT BETTER by slowing your movements down and searching for tightness. That, coupled with breathing will give you better results. - Tag a friend with tight hamstrings.

🚨HAMSTRING STRAIN REHAB🚨 - With an acute hamstring strain, our first priority is to protect👮‍♀️(off load the structure using a cane, walking stick, or crutches) and allowing healing. This is to restore pain-free motion. Recent evidence has shown that rest within the first 24-48 hrs⏰increases stiffness and causes weakness in affected areas and adjacent ones. Once motion is pain-free👍🏻, then a progressive hamstring loading program📋should be implemented. - 👉🏻 The following 7 video clips (SWIPE LEFT) consist of three in the acute phase (1-3) when pain remains, and three advanced versions (4-7) once pain-free motion has been restored: . 1️⃣ Nerve Flossing - priming nerve movement as well as hamstring passive motion. 2️⃣ Heel Slides - maintain heel against table. Use strap assist if active motion alone painful. 3️⃣ Hamstring Isometric - press into physioball maintaining an isometric hold. I favour STRAIGHT ARM > BENT ARM for 2️⃣main reasons: . 1️⃣straight arm engages upper body musculature including rotator cuff and lats in addition to lower body muscle groups. . 2️⃣Bent arm position has a tendency to let the front of your shoulders passively accept the load of the sled which can cause muscle/tendon, or ligament strain. . Why should a Chrio care about this? . If done correctly, this exercise can be a later stage drill for nearly any rehab program, from foot/ankle, to low back, to rotator cuff. . Ossos do #tarso : os #ossos são classificados em sete e em duas fileiras: a distal e a proximal. Na fileira distal a gente tem: #cuboide , #navicular , #cuneiforme lateral, #cuneiforme medial, #cuneiforme intermédio (médio). Já na fileira proximal encontramos: #calcâneo (túber do calcâneo) e #Tálus (tróclea). Para quem não sabe onde se localiza o #tarso , o mesmo é a parte superior dos mamíferos. Ossos do #Metatarso : tem sua configuração constituída por 5 ossos metatarsianos que tem sua numeração cravada no sentido medial para a lateral em I, II, III, IV, V e correspondem aos conhecidos #dedos do #pé , sendo que o primeiro é denominado de #hálux e o quinto denominado de mínimo. São considerados ossos longos e apresentam uma epífise proximal que é a base, e uma epífise distal que é a #cabeça do mesmo. E por fim, os dedos do pé: que apresentam no total 14 #falanges : do 2º ao 5º-> 1ª falange proximal, 2ª falange média e 3ª falange distal. Já no hálux temos-> 1ª falange proximal e 2ª falange distal 👣👣👣
