So, my sister made meat pie this morning for breakfast.
Watching her prepare it my own way, I can comfortably tell that pies are creative ways of getting our kids to eat some of the vegetables they don’t like. And it does not require frying, just bake.
I was more convinced as I washed my sons empty their plate withoutt picking out carrot, onions or cut pepper from it.
Mums, You can get to hide carrot, potatoes, onions, beetroot & even fish( for kids that don’t like fish) in pies.
May be the next time, we will make fish or chicken pie and instead of refined wheat flour, we will use coconut/ tigernut flour or even oat flour.
Rich in high quality protein( fish, egg, chicken, meat or shrimps)essential for kid’s growth & development. building blocks of muscles, repair warn out tissues (both kids & adult)
Rich in vitaminA (carrot, onions & red pepper) good for eyesight & improve immunity
Rich in vitamin C, B & K( carrot,,red pepper) boast immunity & prevent us from frequent hospital visits
Rich in potassium essential for lowering blood pressure level & calcium for healthy & strong bone as well as teeth. (Irish potatoes & carrot)
Good source of fiber (carrot, potatoes, thyme) makes you feel full for a longer time & helps to low blood sugar level.Add digestion & good source of energy.
Rich in antioxidants-(carrot, onions, pepper) protect the brain from oxidation& this helps in memory retention & cancer protective
Like I keep saying our duty is to find creative ways of making healthy foods fun and interesting for our kids.
Together we can preserve more live.
