When I started the #30daysofvintagestyle
I warned you there would be a lot of films from me. This is because I was a film studies major in college and at one time planned on going all the way for my PhD and becoming a film historian. I have always loved old movies, and the idea of studying and preserving them just seemed like the most beautiful idea. However my passions post college took me another direction and I couldn’t be happier.
So day 18 is dedicated to one of my favorite on screen couples, William Powell & Myrna Loy as Nick & Nora Charles in ‘The Thin Man’ Series. If you have never seen one of ‘The Thin’ movies it really is something you have to go watch! The banter between the duo is so well timed and funny, and still holds up perfectly to this day. Both of them are also so impeccably dressed throughout the film, and Powell has very sage cocktail advice. Nick and Nora are all my #couplegoals
for married life. A loving relationship built on teasing the other and pestering them, while having an adorable dog in tow.....this doesn’t sound familiar at all @caseyjmcd
Two more fun facts of my devotion to this series: when we first decided to get a dog I wanted a wired hair terrier like Asta, but found it was actually extremely hard to find in my area. (And of course now I’m completely obsessed with schnauzers after having Daisy in my life). Also when we went to a fancy murder mystery dinner party several years back, we wrote down that our names were Nick and Nora Charles and I spent the whole evening pretending to be her accent in all! Had some people that thought I was a cast member because of my dedication to the bit, and I also solved and won the mystery!
