I have felt really excited about submitting this one!
I decided to dedicate a drink to one of my bestest friends and absolute stunner @bajanrenee.
Bringing the sass from #Barbados
all the way to Amsterdam.
My entrance for the #Libbey #Glassology #Halloween #Tikichallenge
is based on a classic Tiki drink: the Planter's Punch.
Going by the classic Rhum Rhapsody; "One of sour, two of sweet, three of strong and four of weak(and a little spice to make it nice)". This is a drink that was often consumed by plantation owners in the Caribbean. Almost every Caribbean island has their own version of it) "Sugar in the blood"
90 ml blend of #Plantationrum
double aged dark rum and #Diplomatico #Planas
40 ml Fresh mango purree
30 ml Fresh pineapple juice
20 ml Fresh papaya juice
30 ml Spiced demarara syrup
30 ml Coconut oil syrup
30 ml Fresh lime juice
Dash Angostura bitters
Flash blend with crushed ice and cubes. Open pour + gated pour.
Garnished with a Josper grilled, candied and dehydrated pineapple slice and a mint sprig.
In Bajan(and alot of other Caribbean islands')culture it is believed that once you pass away, your soul is split in two halves. One half goes up to heaven(the good part) and the other half remains earthly, and bound in it's coffin for three days. Should the earthly soul escape the coffin within these three days it turns into a Duppy(an evil spirit).
Because of these beliefs, some Caribbean people walk into rooms backwards. They believe this protects them from the evil spirit that is a Duppy.
Every soul has two sides. 🖤♣️
