Thinking about going platinum blonde? We want to start if by saying, being platinum is A LOT of maintenance. Before you commit to a double process, here’s some facts you should know:
This service requires a touch up every 4-6 weeks. If you wait too long, you’re more at risk of getting yellow banding and breakage.
Q: WHAT IS YELLOW BANDING?
A: The heat from your body makes the bleach lift quickly at the root and if your new growth is too long, it will lift unevenly resulting in yellow banding.
Your hair care regimen needs to change! Make sure to use a sulfate free shampoo and a hydrating conditioner. Always use a leave in conditioner! We recommend that you do a protein mask once a week.
Q: HOW DO I PREVENT MY PLATINUM HAIR FROM TURNING YELLOW?
A: Purple shampoo and/or conditioner. What’s the complementary color of yellow? Yep, purple! It actually has violet pigment which will counteract the yellow in your hair. Depending on your texture and brightness of your blonde will determine how often you should use your purple shampoo. It’s best to ask your stylist how many times a week you should use it.
It takes a lot of patience! Becoming platinum isn’t something that’s achieved in one appointment. Especially if you have pre existing hair color. It will probably take 2-3 sessions to get you where you want to be. Get ready to be in the chair for a few hours. Remember we have wine and beer!
We know during your hair appt, we give you guys so much info, so we will start making hair education posts to help you remember
