This film broke my heart as a child and I never watched it again 💔 .
I’ll never understand recreational #Hunting
. I just don’t understand the ease with which people can pull the trigger to end a life and then feel pleased with themselves as if killing is a game.
I often hear #Hunters
say that #AnimalLovers
live in a fantasy #Disney
world and need to step into the real world but how is shooting #Animals
from a distance like cowards, posing smiling with their dead bodies and then taking their antlers as trophies to hang on the wall part of the real world? Animals don’t behave this way. They kill for need. Not greed.
Yes movies often anthropomorphise animals (attribute human characteristics to them) but I don’t think that’s a bad thing as animals are sentient and do think and feel. The way society conditions people to think of animals as unthinking, unfeeling objects is clearly far worse than the way these movies depict animals. I feel that we can learn a lot from kids movies as they teach us so much about basic #Morality
. For example:
teaches us about the cruelty of non-subsistence hunting. #Dumbo
teaches us about the cruelty of animal circuses. #101Dalmations
teaches us about the cruelty of the #Fur
teaches us about the cruelty of #Bullying
teaches us about the cruelty of stealing #Fish
from their ocean home to keep as #Pets
teaches us about the cruelty of colonising #Indigenous
lands and destroying #Nature
for commercial interests. The list goes on.
