Thank you so much to the @makeupgeekcosmetics team for sending me a lovely package while I was away. I am a big fan of the #makeupgeekcosmetics single eye shadows so they sent me some of their new shades that I don’t have. There’s Apple Spice, Hayride, Grunge, Autumn Breeze and Blue My Mind. I am in the process of swatching all my #makeupgeek single shadows so I will add these in so you can see how they compare. I’ll let you know when the blog posts go live - I’m hoping to get them up before Black Friday but we’ll see how I go. They also kindly sent me some lip shades to try. I have one each of the Plush Mattes, Iconic Lipsticks, Showstopper Creme Stains and Foiled Lip Glosses. I showed everything they sent me on my insta story so check that out and let me know if you want something in particular swatched or fully reviewed, and I’ll try to get that done for you. I just got my new iPhone xs and I’m still getting used to the camera but I’m so happy that I don’t have a phone that is constantly freezing on me any more 😊 What are your favourite products from Makeup Geek?
I’m back home in Melbourne. I don’t know how international business people are able to deal with jet lag so often. At least my skin isn’t going crazy from the long flights. My skin would normally go absolutely haywire after even the shortest of flights, but I used the @lamavorganic_au Ultra-Hydration Travel Mini Set on the plane and that seems to have helped a lot. It includes minis of the #lamav Hyaluronan Daily Moisture Creme, Firming Eye Lotion, and Intense Moisture Nightly Repair Nectar. I can’t give a proper review of the products as I need to try skincare every day for at least 6 weeks to really review them, but they are nice and non irritating on my very sensitive skin. I do have a full review on their Hydra-Calm Cleansing Creme and Anti Dark-Circle Eye Gel as well as some of the La Mav makeup products if you’re interested. I have really loved all the #lamavorganic skin care items I’ve tried so far, so I want to try more to review in future. There is an affiliate link for La Mav on my blog if you ever want to buy from the website. When I get over the jet lag, I’ll write a blog post about my in flight essentials for anyone who wants to read it ☺️ What do you take on flights with you?
It’s my last full day in Cyprus. Heading home tomorrow morning - not looking forward to the long flight. I bought a packet of @facehalo wipes from @pricelineau before I left as I had seen lots of positive reviews. I’ve got to say that I’m not amazed by them like so many others seem to be. They don’t get makeup off alone so I use a cleanser with them, which is fine, but the texture is too much for my sensitive skin. So it works better for me to use a cotton face washer with cleanser than the #facehalo rounds. I though the Face Halo was a good environmentally friendly option but they’re made with microfiber so microplastics will be going down the drain every time I use them. So I think I’ll be continuing to use my cotton and bamboo face washers at home. I really like the @eyeofhoruscosmetics Bamboo cleansing cloths. Have you tried the Face Halo, do you like it? I’m trying to reduce the amount of micro plastics input into the environment so bamboo seems to be a better option for me.
Here’s a comparison of the @colourpopcosmetics concealers next to some mainstream concealers. The Colourpop No Filter Concealers are compared to Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme, Tarte Shape Tape in Fair Beige and Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral. I love the formula of @urbandecaycosmetics Naked concealer but you can see how dark and yellow it is compared to Colourpop Fair 06, so it’s unuseable for me. All the other formulas are too dry for my skin. People don’t realize just how hard it is for very pale skinned people to find makeup that suits them. A cruelty free foundation and concealer that suit dry, pink, very fair skin is a unicorn. I really hope #colourpopcosmetics start creating base products for dry skin as they’re one of the very few brands actually catering to very fair skin right now - it’s a bonus that they’re also affordable 😊 Don’t forget to check out the full #colourpopconcealer review on my blog. Do you have a favourite #crueltyfree concealer? Do you like the #colourpop concealer?
A review and swatches of the @colourpopcosmetics No Filter Matte Concealer is up on my blog now (clickable link in bio). I’ve had the swatches ready for a while so I figured it’s a good time to get the post up while you can get the concealers for the buy 1 get 1 free deal. The original launch of the #colourpopcosmetics#nofilterconcealer had a terrible shade range but the new shade range is so much better. There are shades that are actually suitable for fair skin, which is awesome. There are very very few brands that make a very fair pink concealer - so much so that I still don’t have a concealer that suits my dry skin because my shade is so rare. I really hope brands start catering to my skin tone as I like makeup too 😝 Have you tried the #colourpopnofilterconcealer or anything else from the colourpop no filter range? I’m excited for the new stick foundation as it might actually be suitable for dry skin. I really hope they make more dry skin friendly products as they have focused on oily skin so far. Check out my blog post for the full review and comparisons to other brands.
If you haven’t realized yet, I’m a big advocate of proper sun protection. I think I bought 5 or 6 sunscreens with me to Cyprus lol. Aus sunscreen is highly regulated so it’s a good idea to take Australian sunscreen with you when going overseas, rather than buying it where you’re holidaying. Some of the SPF products I bought along with me include the @meccacosmetica To Save Face SPF50+ Superscreen and the #MeccaCosmetica Lip De-Luscious with SPF 25. There is a new version of this in stick form but it only has an SPF of 15, so the pots are better for sun protection. The #Mecca Superscreen 50 SPF isn’t vegan, the SPF 30 version is though. It’s one of the few chemical sunscreens I can use without irritation (if my skin is in good condition). Hats and clothing are very important for sun protection too. I even bought a long sleeve swimsuit from sea level to ensure my shoulders don’t get any sun exposure. Any form of burning or tanning is a sign that the DNA in your skin has been damaged. There is NO safe tan unless it is a fake tan. So you need to wear SPF every day as even the UV that comes through windows will be damaging your skin. Skin cancer isn’t something to mess with, but if that doesn’t make you use sun protection, remember that the biggest thing that can age your skin is UV rays. #meccamaxima#meccabeautyjunkie#crueltyfree#crueltyfreebeauty#sunscreen#polishandpaws#polishandpawsblog
Today is set aside for relaxation! This week of treatment felt so long, so it’s good to get a day to just chill. I would normally relax by spending time with my pups but they’re not here with me, so I went and fed the local stray cats instead. Everyone I’ve met in Cyprus already knows me as the crazy animal lady, so it won’t be a surprise to them when I go in on Monday and tell them I bought the stray cats the best treats I could find 😝 You can see me being surrounded by cats in my insta story. You can find stray cats everywhere in Larnaca, so I’m keeping kitty treats on my for the rest of the trip 😬 What are you up to this weekend? What do you do to relax and chill out? #chill#relaxingday#visitcyprus#treatmentabroad#animalloverforlife#polishandpaws#polishandpawsblog
