throwwbackkkk! i had my first lesson and first jump school on ed in 3 weeks!! we are both a little out of shape and need to get back into it but he was good!
I’m in the re-shaping business. This horse has been up before. But now I think I’m closer to my goal. I think this is a good example why trimming the tip of the frog is essential. To find where the frog is merged with the sole. The first time I saw something iffy was goin on in the heal area of the lateral side, and when I lifted the hoof the medial side was waaaay higher then the lateral side. At first glance on the un-trimmed frog it looked like it was facing the way where the former farrier had cut out for the toeclip. But when I set the knife in the frog I realized that wasn’t the fact. Then I started to trim and found the whiteline and lamella was a lot further in to the hoof then where the former farrier had nailed the nails on the lateral side. You can see a red dot in the middle picture of the hooves and al lot of weird thick white wall outside of it. The sole is more yellow on this picture. While cleaning out the hoof, a really crooked hoof appeared. With the toe facing out and frog facing forward, a very straight lateral wall and a round medial wall. I started trimming down the medial side and heel, and dressing down the lateral capsule of the toe and quarters. The lateral heal a quarters was crushed by the load from standing so crooked. I fitted the shoe facing forward instead. I gave the horse a little more support on the lateral heal and grinded down the medial side of the shoe so it could sink down in the ground more. This was fun.
Out for a walk with the pup.
My fave boy looking a lot cleaner than usual! 😅 So ngl I’ve had a bit of a difficult day today-I’ve literally done nothing except sleeping and lying on the floor contemplating life. I went to RDA yesterday though and it was the asparagus festival (weirdest thing ever!). But it was quite good actually, and found myself with a genuine smile on my face at several points! They were also short of people for the after school sessions so I decided to stay extra (despite being exhausted!) which actually made me feel really helpful and wanted. And then I had to go straight to my appointment, which I ended up having to wait half an hour later for! ——————————————————————
Anyway in my appointment he basically said that he doesn’t really know what good it’s going to do seeing me anymore since I don’t talk to him about eating, and I don’t let him weigh me (and he’s from the eating disorder service). Like he’s not sure what he can do for me and I’m kinda feeling like a waste of time. He also said that it ‘didn’t look like I’d lost weight’ and that I should weigh myself and tell him. I mean that just made me feel a bit crap, he’s clearing judging me based on what I look like and stuff and it made me super self conscious about it. Idk we used to get on quite well but now I’m really struggling to talk to him because I always feel like a burden and I shouldn’t be there because other people deserve the treatment more 😞 but yeah I have a busy day tomorrow so hopefully I will be distracted. Much love 💜

Have you been left disgusted by the news today of horse fly-tipping, neglect & abuse? We certainly have, but then it comes as no surprise to us. Willows all started due to a badly neglected horse (called Willow), and we now provide sanctuary to over 200 horses and ponies. The vast majority of our horse/pony residents have been rescued from neglect and/or physical abuse situations.
This picture of ex-racehorse Ginger will give you a little taste of what we deal with routinely.
Your donation to Willows will go towards the care of horses like Ginger, and to ensuring our future as a place of sanctuary for other horses and ponies who find themselves in similar situations, through no fault of their own. If you’d like to donate to us, head over to willowsanimals.com for donation details. Thank you. #willowsanimalsanctuary #willowsanimals #horses #ponies #horse #rescue #rescued #loveanimals #savetheanimals #charity #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #animalsanctuary #veganshare #aberdeenshire #scotland
