As I got older , I realized that #Fear had always prevented me from playing in the sandbox of life. Fear is how I let myself become too afraid to step outside my own safe and comfortable world that I had created. However, that world was built on the foundation of fear which significantly limited what experienced through my life.⠀ ⠀ To this day, I still experience challenges of my own mind and now I am aware of the limitations I allowed fear to create for many years.⠀ ⠀ Conquering the limitations put in place by fear is what allowed me to live the life I dreamed of. This whole postpartum experience has been a journey for me. With finding out I had shingles due to the stress of birth on my body and having them last for a month, it has been quit a journey. While I was putting away some dish towels this morning (I’m a big fan of putting away laundry immediately!), I took 10 minutes and used the #konmari folding method to reorganize these drawers. Makes them so neat and organized, and took minimal effort. Now that this is done, it’s also minimal effort to keep it this way. Building good habits is key for leadership success. ⠀ ⠀ It’s hardly a new concept – Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was published thirty years ago! ⠀ ⠀ However, it’s still a very relevant idea, and one that I think is sometimes overlooked. ⠀ ⠀ We spend so much time reading and learning about the latest and greatest theories and strategies, but how often do we really implement them and make them a habit? ⠀ ⠀ We usually start with the best intentions, but over time we lose focus and allow ourselves to be distracted. Given that it takes at least two months on average to build a habit, it’s not surprising that we don’t always succeed. ⠀ ⠀ One way to help build a habit is to find a ‘trigger’ to link it to. A trigger is an action or event that you can connect the habit to. It needs to be something you frequently do and are unlikely to avoid.⠀ ⠀ For example, your new habit is to reflect daily, you might choose shutting down your laptop or computer as the trigger to ensure that you reflect daily before leaving the office. I’ve had quite a few conversations in the gym recently about nutrition in relation to goals and I feel it might be worth me going over a couple of things.⁣ ⁣ The most important thing when selecting your nutrition plan/method/love affair is to know what you’re eating for.⁣ ⁣ Specifically eating for health is different to specifically eating for fat loss, which is different to specifically eating for muscle gain, which is different to specifically eating for weight gain, which is different to specifically eating for performance, which is different to specifically eating for… (you get it)⁣ ⁣ You’ll notice that I use the term ‘specifically’ a lot here. There’s a reason for that.⁣ ⁣ You CAN eat for FAT LOSS & HEALTH at the same time. ⁣ You CAN eat for MUSCLE GAIN & WEIGHT GAIN at the same time.⁣ You CAN eat for MUSCLE GAIN & HEALTH at the same time.⁣ You CAN eat for FAT LOSS & MUSCLE GAIN at the same time.⁣ ⁣ But they’re not the same thing as eating specifically for your goal. And some are MUCH MUCH MUCH harder than others.⁣ ⁣ That last one on the list is VERY unlikely to happen and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but anatomically speaking, you’re probably not that special, lucky, patient or are willing to work that hard.⁣ ⁣ The truth is, food is all about preference and requirements. It’s easy to eat for ONE goal rather than TWO. And the ONLY way you’re going to be able to achieve your goal is to make your eating habits (or whatever you want to refer to it as) work to suit your lifestyle.⁣ ⁣ Most of us like Chocolate (I sure as hell do!) and Yes, you can eat chocolate & lose weight. You can also eat chocolate & be healthy. ⁣ ⁣ I often say this: ⁣ Fat Loss or Muscle Gain is predominantly Quantity⁣ Health is predominantly Quality⁣ And positive habits are essential (as opposed to emotional eating). ⁣ ⁣ FIND YOUR BALANCE.
Building healthy habits means consciously choosing my health and wellness every day. ✨ . Today’s healthy self care was throwing on fun new workout gear, crushing a total body core circuit from my 80 day program, and watching a new show - Chernobyl (SO wild y’all!!). This one's for you ☝️ - Late night snacking is rarely due to being physically hungry, but it’s a difficult problem to fix because each situation is unique - I have a foolproof system for identifying the issue - Make sure dinner is good, then when you do grab something make sure you enjoy it, then wait - See how you feel - Most of you will just be sleep deprived, but you have the feeling that you need to enjoy your evening before you go back to work in the morning, and going to bed at 9pm is sad right? - Some will be stressed by an impending deadline you don’t feel you're in control of - For others, it could be something else - The thing is that snacking isn’t going to fix the issue. Only distract you from it. Snacking may actually be compounding the issue by creating a new one - So make an effort to identify what your body is craving (not food) and work on changing your behaviour to remedy the problem - Remember, small steps, one at a time! -

Meditation is a habitual process of staying in the present moment, being mindful and training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts without judgement 🧘🏽‍♀️. . Just a few minutes of meditation each day has been shown to improve your emotional, mental and physical health by: . 1. Reducing levels of cortisol, the stress hormone 😰 2.
