It has been a while since I’ve filled my cup and invested in myself, my health & my fitness. I would be lying if I didn’t say that the last month has been one of the most challenging months for me mentally & emotionally. Letting go of a relationship that was not the right fit for me, transitioning to a job that did not bring me the joy I had anticipated, anxiety set in big time and I shut down.
Where I had been waking up routinely to work out each morning, I was sleeping in and not working out, mostly because I could not shut my brain off to fall asleep at night. Where I had been prepping my weeks and fueling my body with all that it needs, I was instead feeding it sugar and empty energy, or sometimes not feeding it at all. Some days I would just feel an insane pit in my stomach & become paralyzed by my own mind.
To everyone who knows me- I put on a good front- I try to stay positive, I try to see the light & good in all people & all things, I try to maintain the image that I’ve got it all together. But this month was definitely a struggle.
Cue the change of season- fall is by far my favorite time of year. Football season, chunky sweaters, boots, hot coffee, crisp morning air, and the leaves changing. Change is the key. Sitting in the park this morning, hot coffee in hand, I am vowing to change my mindset, to change my perspective, and to change my habits.
Anxiety isn’t going to dictate my health & happiness anymore. I’m taking back control. And I know that by investing this time in me each & every day, I will be able to love & appreciate & truly shed a positive light in this world ✨
Back to the workout grind tomorrow- spending today prepping & planning. And doing things that bring me joy, like drinking coffee, sitting by the water, listening to new music, and of course watching football! Happy Sunday all 💕
HERB POT TIPS 🍃🌷🌾
. The hot water &herbs should NOT be in a plastic bowl as is commonly shown on youtube DIY setups. Toxins from the plastic can leak into the water. Glass jars are also common but often break if the water is too hot. The best setup will have the water and herbs in a clay or stainless steel pot.
. Always test the temperature before sitting. I use the inside of my wrist, holding it over the steam.
Keep in mind when you drape your blanket around your waist the temperature will rise slightly.
. Unfortunately, I’ve seen a lot of unsafe youtube videos that advise women to steam by sitting directly on or straddling over a hot pot. This is NOT safe, I can only imagine how many Ladies fell in trying this method.
