As a longtime yoga teacher and practitioner I was trying to find a post to celebrate #summersolstice
, but to be honest I am not feeling much like celebrating when I think about the 2,300 children still locked up in U.S. detention centers, many who may never be reunited with their parents.... unless “we the people” do something to step up and help. I know it’s heavy, loaded work but I am up for the challenge and I hope you are too! These children and their families continue to need our help to be reunited.
If there’s one thing I learned from both my Yoga teacher training and training as a therapist is that even the helpers need to recharge to be strong for others. #Selfcare
is vital to be able to serve and support others.
If you’re an empath like me these past few weeks have probably felt heavy. The images, the audio, the news....Even though I’ve been donating and continue taking actions to help and spread awareness of what is going on I feel like I could use some space and time to set positive intentions and focus on positive outcomes for these children and their families which is why when I saw this post by @rochelleschieck
I was like “this is what I need right now.”
Qoya teacher and trauma therapist @geminiadams
will be holding this event tomorrow 6/22 at 11:11am GMT/7:11am ET via FB to help collectively plant seeds for safer world.🌱it’s only 15-30 mins. You can find event by searching for this on FB: Safer World: Virtual Solstice Ceremony. I don’t know if this event is necessarily focused on setting intentions for these current issues, but I think a lot of us could currently benefit from “planting seeds for a safer world.” We have to keep doing the work and fighting for those who currently can’t fight for themselves, but we also have to take time to set positive intentions and collectively visualize a safer world for all. This is the real heart of yoga. 🙏🏽🌎❤️🧘🏻♀️
