When Christy @csoeder
and I began this project a year ago, the theme of coexistence was the topic of conversation. We often live fearful of the external objects of our consciousness, but this is based off of judgements grounded without personal experience to draw upon. The bee represents something that appears initially dangerous, with the potential or intent to hurt you. We thought, however, that we all live in this ecosystem together, and there is a purpose for our collective functionality, enriching our lives through love and connection. This series shows the story of an evolved relationship starting with that which threatens you, to connection, to finally living in a peaceful state of coexistence.
We shot this February 2nd, 2018. Now, a year later, looking at this series it has a totally new meaning for me while still falling under the theme of coexistence. What about the ecosystem within ourselves? Now I see a story of finding this peace within my Self - my mind, body & spirit. My mind plays with my emotions, my body can hurt me, and my spirit can question my purpose. How do I quiet this? Trust. Clear your thoughts with focus on your breath, listen to what your body is telling you and nourish it, and follow your instinct. As much as I feel I’m in a constant wrestling match with myself, I have to let go and listen. We don’t have to live within the walls of our fears that we think keep us safe. Go close to the walls. They wouldn’t be called walls if there wasn’t something greater on the other side.
