If you have never had a socca before, I suggest you get on that, pronto. google it for a specific recipe but essentially you are whisking together equal parts garbanzo bean flour (I get mine at Whole Foods) and water to make a batter, season with salt. Cook in a skillet like a pancake with some olive or avocado oil until golden and crisp. Serve with soup and/or salad and you will be in heaven!💫

I sometimes wonder what people think when I wear this hat.
In doing so, it makes me question what the phrase means to me.
To put it simply, it means to suck it up and take responsibility and ownership. To do what is right and what needs to be done. .
You are going to come across situations you don't want to deal with, you're going to encounter conversations you don't want to have, you're going to have days you don't want to go to the gym, or send that email, or make that decision.
And when that time comes you either do what is needed of you or do what moves you further from your goals. .
isn't gender specific; It's taking a phrase that has a muddied perception and turning it into a positive force.
You need to man up and take responsibility and ownership for all your actions and inactions and this hat is a reminder that now is as good a time as any.

These photos were taken at precisely 10:04 pm last night, because what better way to spend a Saturday night than training backs!? 💁🏼♀️
In all honesty though, I really did enjoy my Saturday night at the gym. It’s cheesy and bro-y of me to say, but the gym has become like a sanctuary to me. I love my time spent here. It doesn’t feel like a chore anymore, it feels like I’m fulfilling a passion. There’s nothing I love more than feeling my strength improve and watching my body change, from losing fat, to building muscle, to my personal favorite, seeing my posture get better. ✨
But I didn’t get to this place without sacrifice. I’ve had to drag my ass to the gym when I didn’t want to go more times than I can count. I’ve said no to drunken weekends with my friends on various occasions. Some of my relationships have even suffered because not everyone wants to hang out with you when you aren’t drinking that night and want to be in bed by 10. That’s the reality of building the habit though, and to me it’s totally worth it because even more than looking the way I want to look, I’m becoming someone I’m really proud of and that’s pretty cool man. 👌🏻 #frizzyhairdontcare #girlswhowishtheyhadmuscle
At a wedding last night, and there was a vegan entree option!!!! Grilled tofu with quinoa, pickled vegetables, and a balsamic glaze. I would give it a 7/10 probably, they tofu wasn't very flavorful but the veggies were delish!😋

I have posted VERY few swimsuit photos on the internet despite having been a blogger for more than 9 years. This was probably due to me focusing too much on little imperfections that are probably only obvious to me (do your knees also look like faces?? and are your calves always too ‘muscly’??), but as I’ve been working out a bit more in the last few months (crossfit x2/week on most weeks and then small excercises during the day every day just to keep me active), I’m starting to feel more confident. I’m not really seeing any results yet, but then again I never measured myself at the start. It’s just something I’ve never taken seriously before, so I’m still getting used to this whole workout and nutrition *life* but I’m enjoying it. It’s also helping my scoliosis which is always so, so welcome 🌱💛

✨COOKIES & CREAM PROTEIN SHAKE w/ BROILED GRAPEFRUIT, FRUIT SALAD✨

SHAKE: 1 scoop @drinkorgain
plant based cooked & cream protein powder + 1 scoop @furtherfood
marine collagen + 1/2 tsp @majusuperfoods
ashwaghanda powder + spinach + water & ice. Drinking it with my @repurpose
BROILED GRAPEFRUIT: cut grapefruit in half, spray fruit with coconut oil spray + sprinkle with coconut sugar. Broil for about 5-10 min. I served mine with a chopped peach + plum + cinnamon 💕
Yesterday’s trip to the farmer’s market was the ultimate creative challenge: make a recipe from scratch with whatever was available. As you’ll see below, it’s so easy to use fresh in-season produce to create a delicious recipe!
The farmer’s market ingredients were the zucchinis, potatoes, and fresh herbs.
1 flax egg (3 tbsp flaxseed meal + 2.5 tbsp water).
2 zucchinis, shredded.
1 yellow potato, shredded.
1/2 cup + 1 tbsp flour of choice.
1 tbsp fresh basil, minced.
1 tbsp fresh oregano, minced.
1 tsp salt.
1/2 tsp black pepper.
2 tbsp coconut oil or other high heat oil for frying.
Optional: red pepper hummus for topping
1. Make your flax egg and set it aside for at least 5 minutes.
2. Using a wooden spoon, combine flax egg, zucchini, potato, flour, fresh herbs, and s&p in a large bowl. Mix until sticky.
3. Preheat large skillet over medium-high heat. As the pan heats, form zucchini fritters by rolling into a ball, then flattening between your palms (I made 10 fritters). Place them on parchment paper or other surface so they don’t stick.
4. Once your skillet is hot, add coconut oil and allow to heat for about 10 seconds. Add 5 fritters at a time (depending on skillet size) and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side or until browned.
Just like that, you have a delicious local and fresh market meal! Would you try these Zucchini Potato Fritters❓

If you’re not familiar with this veggie, here are a few ways we like to eat Swiss Chard (Oh yeah...don’t mind my sous chef who likes to cook in his underwear 😏😂):
🌱Chopped and lightly sautéed in a bit of olive oil or water with sliced garlic, pink sea salt & pepper. Don’t throw out the stems; chop and sauté them first, before adding the leaves a few minutes later). .
🌱shredded and used as a salad or slaw base with non-dairy dressing
🌱blended with berries in a smoothie!

Everything we are eating for tea( except the peppers) was from either ours or friends and family's gardens 🌿 Saving on plastic, tastes a million times better, totally organic and I never thought I would get so excited by seeing things grow. Have what I think is bursitis from an injury to my knee whilst gardening this morning so I'm having a restful afternoon /evening and despite not being very happy about this, I think it is probably much needed. Sometimes life or your body speaks up for you when ya need a chill pill and although I am generally not very good at listening, it hasn't given me much choice. Also, I have a pint of the new vegan halo top ice cream in the freezer - so I can't complain about a night in. 😉🤷🏼🍦

Ha it always hits me when I visit family how “weird” being vegan is to some people. I’m used to being surrounded by other vegans and veggies or even meat eater friends who want recipes 😂
I think there is still such a stigma that our food is bland, boring and tasteless but tbh even if it was (it’s not) is still have it over animals.
My sister today said “yeah she’s still on her diet” (its been years btw) I think that’s part of the problem that its viewed as a fad diet so people don’t want to know why we don’t eat, use or pay others to abuse animals. ❌💄🐥👗👠❌
I was exactly the same living in my little bubble and I was selfish and I cared more about my weight and the food I knew kept me “skinny” than actually learning about the animals and understanding they have the right just like us!
Remember just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s moral!
You wouldn’t eat a dog, cat or eagle so why a cow, pig or chicken?! Food for thought (mind the pun) ................................................

Whoop whoop! Wed nite we get a knock on the door from best neighbors ever we met last yr around this time cuz we were admiring their fig tree saying how we wish WE had a fig tree like that. Micheal, owner of the house & said fig tree, came riding up behind us, hearing us then gave us a huge bag o figs! Fig coma ensued. 🌟
Without a doubt, figs are one of my fave exotic fruits!
* belongs to mulberry family (another fave fruit)
* refrigerate w/in a few days
* the more ripe they are, the more ANTIOXIDANTS they have!
* high in fiber
* good source of magnesium (helps relax muscles + 300 other body functions), manganese (helps prevent osteoporosis & PMS), calcium (key for bone health, heart function like high blood pressure), copper (think heart disease prevention/osteoporosis & helps absorb iron) + potassium (decreases risk of stroke, protects agains bone loss, decreases formation of kidney stones)
* fig leaf MIGHT have insulin-lowering properties *Commercially grown dried figs may be treated w sulfur-containing compounds to extend shelf life so check labels if you’re sulfite sensitive
It’s so easy to over consume these when fresh - low FODMAPers know figs contain a high amt of fructose. Those who suffer w IBS will want to eat test them after the 2-6 week low FODMAP elimination diet phase. I’ve been testing them this week and seem to be A-OK thank GAWD!
