Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.
Each Monday, we focus on our mental health at The Ubiquitous Woman. In daily life, we get caught up and busy with everything, we build our stress up up up until it has nowhere to go and explodes, we can feel ourselves losing touch with our minds, our loved ones.. And during pregnancy, it's an added stress with the hormones, thoughts about if the baby is healthy, how labour is going to be, will you be able to handle motherhood, finances, nitty gritties.. Oh and the postpartum.. the hormone drops, the lack of sleep, exhaustion.
It's. Not. Easy.
So we bring to you mindfulness mondays, a simple task each Monday which will need 5 minutes of your time to recharge your mind and calm your mind to kick-start the week.
Today we talk about gratitude journals! Just take a few minutes today to write down, physically write down with pen and paper (not on your notes app!), 3 things you are grateful for. They can be big or small, they could have happened today or 10 years back, it can be 3 sentences long or 3 pages long, it's okay. Just 3 things you feel grateful for in this moment.
Write them down and read them a few times. Touch your heart and genuinely feel grateful that you have these 3 reasons.
If you enjoy this, you can take 5 minutes out of every day and write down 3 things you feel grateful for that day. I've been doing it for a while now and those 5 minutes give me hours of serenity. Try it!
