Yan Sommer is the latest goalkeeper linked to Liverpool this summer. This time it’s Bild who wade into the debate, claiming that Jurgen Klopp is familiar with the Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper from his time in the Bundesliga. Sommer impressed for Switzerland in their 1-1 draw against Brazil on Sunday evening, and Bild reckon a fee in the region of £30m could persuade Monchengladbach to part ways with their number one. Thoughts? #LFC #YNWA #Sommer #YanSommer #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow #Monchengladbach
Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is likely to be sold during the summer transfer window, Bristol Live report via The Times. Kent spent the second half of last season on loan at Bristol City but failed to impress, and Gregor Macgregor believes it remains to be seen whether they would make a permanent raid for the 21-year-old. The winger also struggled at Freiburg in the Bundesliga during the opening several months of the previous campaign and could join Daniel Sturridge and Simon Mignolet in heading for the Anfield exit door. Rangers and Leeds are the most possible destinations for Ryan Kent. #LFC #YNWA #Kent #RyanKent #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow
Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Nick Pope. Burnley’s £18m-rated goalkeeper is the latest stopper under consideration by the Anfield side in their search for a new No.1. And they have been building up their information on Pope with a series of background checks on the 26-year old. Liverpool know all about Pope’s ability having seen him star for Burnley last term and cap his brilliant breakthrough season by being named the Clarets’ fans and players’ player of the season. His form since replacing injured teammate Tom Heaton as Burnley’s first choice in September also earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad. But Liverpool are also keen to find out more about Pope’s personality and mentality ahead of a potential move that would represent another step up in his fairytale rise. Pope has gone from Ryman League Bury Town to a Premier League No.1 and full international in just seven years after making his debut in England’s World Cup warm-up fixture against Costa Rica. And a switch to Anfield would represent the latest climb up the ladder in his club career. Pope would be a cheaper alternative to two of the other goalkeepers on Liverpool’s radar Roma’s Brazilian Alisson, who is valued at around £70m and also wanted by Real Madrid, and Jack Butland who Stoke want around £30m for. #LFC #YNWA #Pope #NickPope #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow #Burnley
Corentin Tolisso wants to secure a dream move to Liverpool, Calcio Insider claim. Bayern Munich broke their transfer record last summer to sign the midfielder from Lyon and were repaid in their faith after he made 40 appearances, having a direct hand in 17 goals. Tolisso started in midfield alongside Paul Pogba for France against Australia in their World Cup opener this weekend, but sources have told Insider that he is eyeing a move to the Reds. “Tolisso wants a Premier League move,” they said. “The dream is Liverpool.” The midfielder himself adds further weight to these claims after an interview he completed with Onze Mondial back in December. “I like the long game, the passes between two opponents, the passes behind the defence. It’s beautiful stuff too I think. I’m not going to say that because otherwise people will say “He compares himself to Gerrard”, but I like the passes that Gerrard made. Steven Gerrard is someone who knew how to do everything. He could score, defend. You could see him everywhere.” #LFC #YNWA #CorentinTolisso #Tolisso #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow #BayernMunich
Nabil Fékir in today's press conference: "It was great to see Jean-Michel Aulas yesterday at Istra (base camp) but we did not at all discuss my situation at Lyon." _________ Nabil Fékir asked about Liverpool trying to lower the price vis-à-vis his medical results: "(half sighs/half smirks) You know I am here with France, I am happy, and I am not here to discuss my personal situation. Nabil Fekir's agent speaks out - Deal still on! Quotes from Fekir’s agent have hit social media tonight and reignited fan belief in the player’s transfer saga. Fekir’s agent reportedly said: “Nabil Fekir passed the medical checkup for Liverpool – He did not sign because uh it’s not over! The story isn’t over.” This claim would seem to directly contradict the reports from the English media suggesting that Fekir had failed his medical based on a long term knee problem, and certainly throws doubt into the story spread directly after the deal collapsed. The quote emerged from a French journalist tonight, so it is worth noting that some words may have been lost in translation. Here’s the source, Marine Marck: ________ Quand @patrickchene taquine Jean-Pierre Bernès sur @LCI : « Nabil Fekir a passé la visite médicale pour Liverpool, pourquoi il a pas signé alors ? - Il a pas signé parce que euh... c’est pas fini ! What's going on there? Long-serving Liverpool Academy coach Mike Garrity has parted company with the club. The under-23s assistant boss has left the Reds as part of an extensive summer reshuffle at Kirkby. Garrity, who served as interim under-23s manager for the second half of the 2016/17 season following the exit of Michael Beale, worked across a number of age groups. Garrity won’t be replaced as Liverpool look to streamline their Academy staff this summer. Neil Critchley will remain as under-23s boss for the 2018/19 campaign but he will no longer have an assistant. Liverpool are close to filling a number of vacancies following Steven Gerrard’s departure to Rangers. The Kop legend took head of coaching for the foundation phase Michael Beale, under-18s assistant Tom Culshaw and fitness coach Jordan Milsom with him to Ibrox. The Reds will have Gerrard’s successor as under-18s boss in place for the start of pre-season but that age group will no longer have an assistant manager. #LFC #YNWA #LFCu18s #LFCu23s #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #LFCAcademy

Steve McManaman believes there will be movement in attack as well after the Nabil Fekir deal collapsed. "The fact that he’s looking at that position suggests that he wants someone," he said. So I presume he’ll try and find a replacement. A number 10 type player, when Coutinho went, i know they haven’t missed him because the front three have played so well, but i think it showed that if one of them gets injured they certainly need back up. They’ve got Lallana, but the fact they’re looking at that position, an eight or a 10, shows where Jurgen wants to bring somebody in." #LFC #YNWA #NabilFékir #Fekir #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow #Lyon

Virgil van Dijk joined Robertson at Liverpool when completing a transfer from Southampton in January this year, just over five months after his fellow defender arrived from Hull City. And the Netherlands captain was already well aware of the Scotland full-back’s quality prior to his move to Anfield. “Robbo is doing fantastic. Obviously when I came to Celtic, in my first season he played at Dundee United and I already thought he’s a very good player and I thought at that time he should join Celtic!” Van Dijk reveals. “I think I said it to one of the scouting guys as well - sometimes I like to give my opinion on players. He’s just a great player, [he] works hard. If you need ratings of a game, I don’t think he’d ever go lower than a six. You can trust him and the connection I have with him is getting better every game. He knows obviously what he has in me, and I get it the other way around as well. He’s a good guy as well and that obviously helps too.” #LFC #YNWA #VVD #VirgilVanDijk #VVD #Robertson #AndyRobertson #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCLFinal

Jose Mourinho has been left 'angered' by Liverpool's 2018/19 fixture list, with the Reds facing six home games following their six Champions League group stage games. Mourinho is said to be angry after Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all been given an even split of three home and three away games on those match days. The Times claims Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettinho are 'relaxed' over the situation the schedule has raised, but the Portuguese coach is mindful of the difference, and is 'likely' to address it next season. Liverpool, of course, face six away trips before their European exploits, including Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp will not discover his side's fate in the Champions League until August 30, where the Reds are expected to be placed in pot three as they look to go one step further and lift their sixth European Cup. #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Mourinho #JoseMourinho #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #PLfixtures

Former Liverpool target, Mario Gotze has been linked with a move away to Everton, Arsenal and West Ham according to Sky Sports. Borussia Dortmund are believed to be keen on cutting ties with the midfielder, who has two-years left on his current contract, but only if they can recoup the majority of the £22m they spent on the 26-year old. Newcastle United and Leicester City, according to The Mirror, are also said to be interested in the German, who has failed to hit the ground running since returning to Signal Iduna Park. The Germany international, who scored the winning goal in extra-time of the 2014 World Cup Final, failed to make the grade for this year’s competition, which started this afternoon and saw Russia secure a 5-0 victory against Saudia Arabia. It was well-known that Jurgen Klopp was interested in signing the attacking midfielder before Gotze opted for a move back to Dortmund and Liverpool went on to sign fan favourite, Sadio Mane, in 2016. Gotze, who made 23 appearances for Dortmund last season, only managed to find the net twice and provided a further four assists for the entire campaign. Liverpool’s failure to conclude the Nabil Fekir in recent days has been widely-reported and with Klopp now needing to find a replacement, Gotze’s most recent comments on the Liverpool manager didn’t go undocumented. Speaking on a special ‘Being Mario Gotze’ documentary, he revealed his desire to play under his “Footballing Father” once more. “I decided to leave Bayern Munich and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool,” he said. “And I was also interested in working with him again. The desire to play for him still exists. He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option.” (via Anfield HQ) Would you sign him now? #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #MarioGotze #Gotze #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow #Dortmund #BVB
The West Ham United captain Mark Noble is relishing the opportunity to kick-off the 2018/19 season at Anfield “Playing at Anfield is always special and everyone always looks forward to the opening game of the new season, so it should be a really good occasion for everyone. Liverpool away is always a tough game and they’ll be keen to get their season off to a winning start, particularly as it’ll be their first home match since the Champions League final, but we will also want to make a positive start, so we’ll give everything and hopefully we will put in a good performance. We’ll be playing under Manuel Pellegrini for the first time, so all the lads will want to do their best and show the new manager what they can do. For me, Liverpool away is a really exciting game to start the season.” #LFC #YNWA #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #PLfixtures #LIVWHU

Sadio Mane has declared himself “very happy” at Liverpool amid rumoured interest from “best team in the world” Real Madrid. And when asked directly whether he was moving to Real Madrid, Mane said: “I am very happy in Liverpool and my contract will last for three more years.” The next question asked if he was staying in Liverpool, to which Mane replied: “As I said, I'm happy in Liverpool. But you never know what will happen in the future. I want to win trophies, especially the Champions League.” Of Liverpool's loss to Real, Mane added: “To be honest, this defeat was not easy to put away. The whole club worked hard for this Champions League title, but Real Madrid were the better team that day. We lost to the best team in the world. The defeat is but ticked off. Now it is time to play with Senegal a good and successful World Cup. That's my whole focus.” I feel no pressure. To be honest, I am very happy to play this tournament together with my team. Liverpool Echo choose players who the Reds should target instead of Nabil Fekir. Marco Asensio. The 22-year-old has been touted as Real's next big thing ever since being snapped up from Mallorca in 2014. He scored 11 goals in 53 games this season, but many of those appearances were from the bench, such as in the UCL win over Liverpool. With Real strongly linked with a move for Neymar this summer, Asensio chances of being a starter could be further reduced with reports in Spain suggesting he may seek showdown talks. _____________ Draxler Liverpool wanted the German in January 2017 only for the player to opt for Paris Saint-Germain. #Draxler , though, hasn't been a regular starter at PSG in the last 18 months, prompting speculation over his future. The 24-year-old has revealed he will have talks with compatriot Tuchel, who is taking over as boss at the Parc des Princes. While capable of playing in the centre, Draxler has spent much of his time in France on the left. __________ Pulisic The obvious choice. Klopp is a huge admirer of the 19-year-old, having signed him for Dortmund as a 16-year-old in February 2015. Klopp failed in an attempt to bring the USA international to Liverpool in 2016, since which the teenager's value has rocketed. He has emerged as a key figure for Dortmund, but the Bundesliga side have been in a state of flux during the past 12 months with Peter Bosz sacked in the autumn, Peter Stoger taking over for the remainder of the season and Lucien Favre becoming head coach for next term. _________ Gotze The sentimental choice in some ways, with Gotze having enjoyed a fruitful period working with Klopp while at Dortmund. #Gotze could have joined LFC in 2016 but instead returned to Dortmund from Bayern, a move that saw him sidelined for most of the 2016-17 season with a mystery illness. Still only 26, Gotze was more involved this campaign but still far from a regular. And he revealed this weekend he would welcome a move to Anfield to be reunited with Klopp. _________ Other names: Zielinski & Lemar. #LFC #YNWA #Asensio #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #transferwindow
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has everything on his side to make a seamless return from the injury that prematurely ended his debut Liverpool season. Gary McAllister has an acute understanding of the frustrations felt by Oxlade-Chamberlain and can therefore predict with confidence that the No.21 will return a stronger player. “When he made the tackle, it was an awkward challenge. Alex doesn’t go down easily,” the Scot. “With it being World Cup year, things went flashing through my mind because prior to France ’98 I got involved in an awkward challenge with Neil Lennon – I ruptured my ACL and missed the World Cup. My words are no consolation but the technology around injuries now is brilliant; players can come back no problem. They very rarely go on to break down. He is strong and young enough. Mine happened towards the end of my career but from the moment I had the operation I hardly missed a game. It’s hard for him take the advice on, but he’ll be fine and he’ll be back.” He was another player who maybe started a little bit slowly in his Liverpool career but he was just starting to gather some momentum in his form. He was taking on more responsibility, having shots at goal, getting on the scoresheet and making goals. You could see there was a smile on his face and he was starting to enjoy his football. To be hit by this blow is a shame. He’ll come back mentally stronger. He’ll be prepared and his body will be fine. It’s just convincing himself that there is a way back and it’s not the end of the world." #LFC #YNWA #OxladeChamberlain #Oxlade #AOC #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague
