When a river flows it takes everything in the direction it follows! That's what the foot does to the body. Although as beautiful system that we attain it's a little more complex than that. The hip is the other river flowing down to the other body segments. . . Its cool to be able to release the foot with a variety of myofascial techniques but that's not what we want to be doing long term. In the long run the foot needs to be taken care of daily! And that is by walking barefoot. . . When the foot is restricted to a confined space for many hours throughout our daily lives, it molds the shape of the shoe and eventually becomes permanent. That is thanks to the body's fortunate and unfortunate ability to adapt so well to any situation. The body is able to sucrifice health of any system for survival at any moment. . . Thankfully we can find commercially an abundance of barefoot shoes that allows us to walk on any terrain without fear of harm. Notice the rigidity of the torso due to proper core stabilisation and the relative timing in the legs and hips as the depth increases. ___________________________________________ My best cues have always been: 1 - Deep Diaphragmatic Breath -> draw the belly in towards the spine 2 - Chest up & Back engaged 3 - Break at the knees and control the descent of the hips. •ACCOMODATING RESISTANCE • Okay, you guys noticed I make use of resistance bands during some of my training sessions. . Accommodating resistance can actually increase the amount of time the bar acceleration occurs for. For example, when using a light load (~50%) for power development, without accommodating resistance the deceleration phase is nearly half of the movement. However, the usage of accommodating resistance will increase the amount of time the athlete will accelerate the bar via increasing the mass/band tension being lifted throughout the entire range of motion. . WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Increasing the amount of time the athlete can accelerate the bar means you will have a greater range of motion working to produce a positive acceleration and more total muscular activation. It also means that a greater acceleration phase will allow for greater average velocities to be achieved and therefore greater average power outputs for a given percentage of 1rm. . . That is pretty much the logic behind this method! 💯. . 💥INTENTIONS💥 ❇️ Not accelerating the bar with absolute conscious effort! . 👆🏼This is one of the errors I frequently see among the exercisers when they execute a big compound movements or a power exercise when their goal is to improve power/ max strength qualities . The expression of a physiological quality like speed, strength, power is underpinned by the efficiency of our nervous system . The nervous system can be trained to improve its efficiency by specific protocols using explosive exercises like Plyometrics, Olympic lifting, Squats, Deadlift etcetera . On that note, comes the INTENTIONS. It’s nothing but putting a conscious effort in accelerating the bar at every single rep during the concentric portion of the lift, in other words, moving the bar as fast as possible when you try to overcome the gravity at every repetition . What does this do? It simply enhances the recruitment pathways like the HTMU’s, in turn FT fiber types, and optimizes rate coding (signal frequency) . By doing so, all this has a great carry over to the movement expressions involving speed/ power components, in other words, sports which demands the physiological qualities mentioned above .
