FICG in L.A. presents: Away from Meaning
Director: Olivia Luengas Magaña
Mexico · 2018 · Color · 90´
Between 2010 and 2013 two psychiatric hospitals closed in Mexico, in both, Liliana was admitted because of her borderline personality disorder. When she was 3 years old she suffered a viral encephalitis; 15 years later she discovered that something was not right in her head, she and her family looked for the causes of her emotional instability and her frequent hospitalizations for suicide attempts. Given the threat of a relapse and without the option of internment, she and her parents face a treatment scheme at home. The family questions normality and asks questions; transports us to the inner world of Liliana, where her emotions take shape.

My grandmother was convinced that the only animal that made the same mistake twice is the human being. An essay short film about my very own Internet, a parallel world where memory loss, errors, surveillance and addiction smear everything and everyone.
