If a woman has her womb and takes HRT then she needs to take a progestogen to protect the lining of the womb as it can build up with only taking oestrogen. The safest way of having a progestogen is taking Utrogestan which is micronised progesterone or having a Mirena coil which protects the lining of the women for 5 years. More information on my menopausedoctor website. #menopause #hormones #womenshealth #knowledgeispower #mirena #progesterone
So this is what the #progesterone ring looks like. It’s a vaginal ring containing slow-release progesterone and is switched out weekly, rather than taking daily shots and bruising bottoms. We’re so glad to take part in this clinical trial and hope that it helps countless women down the line. #ttccommunity #fallopiantubes #endometriosis #ivfjourney #ivfsisters #infertilityawareness #infertilitycommunity #infertilitysisters #assistedreproductivetechnology
No... it’s not pretty. Infertility is not pretty. This is my bum. A bum that’s had faded permanent marker on it for weeks. My husband thinks he is a funny guy with the marker and decided instead of a square that I needed a baseball diamond. A bum that is filling up with bruises. When that 2” needle hits a bruise boy does that hurt!!! But this is temporary. I will stay positive!! #ivf #progesterone #progesteroneinoil #ivfjourney #ivfsupport #ivfcommunity #ivfwarrior #infertility #thisiswhatinfertilitylookslike #infertilitysucks #infertilityawareness #infertilitysupport #infertilitywarrior #ttc
There is so much that functional medicine has to offer those, both male and female, that are dealing with hormone dysregulation. Often times both conventional and some holistic health practitioners offer a replacement model when dealing with endocrinology. A replacement model is simply measuring what’s low and replacing it with exogenous hormones. For example, you measure low progesterone and a natural or synthetic progesterone is given to bring the level up. A danger here is that these replacements can interrupt proper signaling to the brain, namely the pituitary gland. They can communicate to the pituitary gland that hormone levels are adequate or even high and then the pituitary gland signals for your body to stop making these hormones. This negative feedback loop can even cause the hormone receptor sites within the cell to become resistant to the very hormones your body produces and relies on. That being said, there are circumstances to use replacement hormones, it is just grossly over utilized. . The functional/ holistic model is different, as it seeks to find and uproot the underlying cause of why there is dysfunctional endocrinology. In order to have properly functioning hormones, basic body systems must be working well. The most common reasons for hormone imbalances are . *blood glucose dysregulation *gut dysfunction *decreased liver detoxification capacity *improper adrenal gland function *inadequate intake of essential fatty acids . Address one or more of these issues, and your life will change. Hormone disruption can have a significant impact on life- I know because I’ve personally dealt with hormone issues at points. I say this all of the time, but there is so much hope for those struggling with hormones 💕 . If you would like further help with getting to the root cause of your endocrine concerns, I am offering consultation (at a reduced rate) and book packages with my book preorder campaign. Just over a week left to snag a slot because I am technically not taking on new clients. (See bio) I would love to sit down and talk with you 💗
My amazing husband upgraded my engagement ring for my birthday! Today’s one of those days where I have no energy come 6pm. Today is CD9. I’ve been MIA on here. Trying to just relax as much as possible this cycle. Got great news a week ago (oh, I turned 30 on Monday!!), our insurance is going to cover 1-2 rounds of IVF! Tomorrow I go for my follicle scan. Trigger gets delivered Saturday morning. And then probably IUI Tuesday. 🤞🏼 #ttc #ttccommunity #ttcwithinfertility #ttcwithpcos #pcos #infertility #letrozole #femara #iui #ovidrel #triggershot #progesterone #estrace

Hormones (menstrualcycle) vs training, can be hell for a lot of us and has a big influence on our sportsresults💁🏼 We all feel hungry, moody, bad vibes the week before our menstruation (also the period where we could eat EVERYTHING🍭🍪🍦🎂🍩) . There’s a reason behind this! One week before, progesterone is very high and this works against estrogen (hormone that provides energy, positive vibes). Also our body temperature is often much higher, which makes cardio even more hell😈 the first day of our menstruation our estrogen is at 0, which makes you want to watch netflix rather than to go to the gym, our energy level is 0.0 👀 then our estrogen goes quietly up & progesterone down, this goes the right way! So the week after should be the best one! So yes, there is a reason why we are exhausting during this period, are hungry, feel bad! Once you understand why, you can place this and have peace with it🙏🏼❤️ (sometimes I really wish I was a man but yeah.. maybe next life😅😎) ————————————————- #woman #womanstruggles #menstration #period #struggles #menstruationvssports #sportresults #gym #girl #poland #bikinifitness #cycle #mindset #progesterone #hormones #goodvibes #mental #health #body #understandthebody #thinkclear #smartgym #katowice #athlete #coached #foods #girls wholift #acceptyourbody #shape #goals
Hippocrates said it best, all diseases start in the gut. ⠀ ⠀ One of the first places I tend to work on with most patients is their gut health because of this concept. But what does that actually mean, to work on someone's gut health? To me, it means removing as much inflammatory and infectious insult on the gut as possible so that the gastrointestinal system is not trying to put out a fire 16 hours a day. There are a multitude of changes that can occur when the GI system is overwhelmed with inflammation and chronic infection, which can usually be lumped into two overarching scenarios: dysfunctional intestinal permeability, also known as leaky gut, and intestinal dysbiosis, which is dysfunctional imbalance within the microbiome.⠀ ⠀ Now, one thing I want to make clear is that what causes those two scenarios in one person might not cause it in another. This means that gluten is not the enemy for every single person, nor is dairy, nor is corn. Each person has a unique genetic, epigenetic, and microbial makeup that changes how they respond to their environment. What I will say is this though, almost everyone with a chronic disease is suffering from one, or both, of the above.⠀ ⠀ My preferred way to start quenching GI inflammation? Start some form of fasting, which I've covered in several other posts!⠀ ⠀ ___⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #RegenerativePerformance #NaturopathicMedicine #NaturopathicDoctor #FunctionalMedicine #IntegrativeMedicine #Medical #Doctor #Endocrinology #Neuroendocrinology #Hormones #Testosterone #Progesterone #Estrogen #HPAaxis #Thyroid #HPTaxis #LeakyGut #Dysbiosis #GutFunction #GutHealth
PMDD pre menstrual dysphoric disorder for years I've had different degrees of PMSing and PMDD. Everytime I've told my doctor or family about my symptoms, the answers would be: * don't let your hormones control you * woman up, suck it up *that's Eve's course!!! it's normal, many women go through it. They suck it up *yeah!!! just like your mother and grandmother and neighbor and cousin and aunt and friend.... THIS IS JUST HOW IT IS, LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT LIKE WE'VE ALL DONE I have something to say about this. it's bullshit. When I go past my ovulation period I start losing touch with Estradiol and start perceiving the presence of progesterone, much less flashy and voloptuous than Estradiol. My body asks me to slow down, to be still, to be a hibernating bear. My breasts become tender, they hurt when the wind blows on them. My tummy becomes swollen, and so does the world around me. I become more sensitive than I already am and I cry a lot, I can cry about the fucked up state of the world in general, or the mere beautiful existence of trees. I feel anxious about my own existence and the futility of it. I can be crying for a whole day. I feel the need to talk about this. Firstly, because doctors STILL HAVEN'T FOUND THE CAUSE OF PMDD, so they prescribe antidepressants or ovulation-killers (also known as birth control pills, or as I like to call them, prescribed sterilization), and secondly, because we CAN'T STOP OUR SPEEDY LIVES (can we?) when our body is clearly asking us to, so cortisol and adrenaline will reign again and fuck up later cycles, till they becomes a vicious one. far from being a portrait done on a happy day, with a pout or a pose, this one was drawn with a mirror in front of me in the middle of a PMDD existential crisis. Please comment if you feel reflected, and thanks for reading #pmdd #pmddawareness #pms #cyclic #bodies #menstruating #hormones #estradiol #progesterone #investigateplease #ifmenhadperiods

What is Luteal Phase Defect (LPD)? Is our luteal phase always the same? What influences the duration? ⁣ ⁣ If you’ve ever had a short cycle but were able to confirm ovulation, you might have LPD. LPD is due to a deficiency in progesterone, which is the hormone that keeps our endometrial lining stable before our period arrives. 📉⁣ ⁣ Our luteal phase (the phase between ovulation and menstruation) tends to be the same each month, anything from 10-16 days is average. So, if you’re a 14-day luteal gal, you’ll likely stay a 14-day-er HOWEVER, this isn’t guaranteed. 💁🏼‍♀️Bodies are weird and can switch it up on ya— so if you have a cycle where your luteal phase is suddenly a day or maybe even two longer or shorter, don’t freak. It’s normal. 💃⁣ ⁣ If your luteal phase starts dipping consistently below 10 days, you could have LPD. Why does this matter? It means you need more progesterone! Progesterone is our “chill hormone” & could be lacking for a number of reasons: stress, estrogen dominance, Hashimoto’s, PCOS, among others. ⁣ ⁣ Research shows vitamin B6 exerts “progesterone-like” effects and increases production of progesterone, ensuring we stash enough to have a long, healthy luteal phase and a period that’s right on time. 🙏🏼 If you’re #ttc this is PARAMOUNT. You cannot sustain a pregnancy without progesterone.⁣ ⁣ Foods high in B6:⁣ 🖤avocado ⁣ 🖤eggs⁣ 🖤poultry⁣ 🖤bananas⁣ 🖤walnuts⁣ 🖤beans⁣ ⁣ What are your experiences with insufficient progesterone? ⁣ ⁣ #lutealphasedefect #nourishyourself #progesterone #infertility #lpd #menstruationmatters #periodproblems #ttcjourney #miscarriageawareness #womenshealth #dietitiansofinstagram #rdapproved #selfcare #hormoneimbalance #pcosdiet #cysterhood #hashimotosdisease #hypothyroidism #nourishyourbody #selflove #femalehealth #hormones #girltalk #girlpower #fempreneurs
Did you know your hormones go through a 12 week phase? . Which means it takes 12 weeks for the female body to go through an entire hormone phase. . If you are starting a nutrition program that is anything less than this time frame, you’re setting yourself up for failure. . You have to give your body a chance! If you aren’t giving it a full hormone cycle, you really aren’t. . This is also why women tend to gain back the weight they lost on a shorter program. . If you are trying to regulate your hormones this time frame is key. You’ve got to stick with it for at least 12 weeks before you will see the full result. . 12 weeks is key for women. . . . #eatforyourcycle #femalehormonesolution #healthylifestyle #femalehormones #weightlossforwomen #femalecycle #thefemalefatsolution #seedcycling #fatlossforwomen #nutritionforwomen #femalehormonecycle #regulatehormones #naturalhealth #womenshealth #hormoneimbalance #fertility #estrogen #progesterone #stopeatinglikeaman
Did you know we have 6 main hormones? 1️⃣#estrogen 2️⃣#progesterone 3️⃣#testosterone (these first 3 are your sex hormones) 4️⃣#cortisol (stress hormone) 5️⃣#thyroid hormones ( regulate metabolism) 6️⃣#insulin (blood sugar balancing hormone) Blood sugar affects the balance of all of these hormones in your body. When your blood sugar levels are out of balance, ALL your other #hormones are affected, which affects every process in your body... #weight , #mood , #energy , #sleep , #cholesterol , #bloodpressure , #inflammation ... (the list is endless). Blood sugar control regulates the balance of your hormones (through triggering the release of insulin from the pancreas). Insulin is your master hormone for weight loss, and absorption of nutrients into the cells. 👉 The ingredients in Plexus Slim help your cells to use insulin more efficiently, which allows for blood sugar control, hormone balance, and weight loss. Two Slim drinks per day has been shown in clinical studies to decrease weight, and it was originally designed to reduce and balance blood sugar- the key to balancing the whole body. 💞 Start new in 2019 with a healthier you! I love walking alongside people to help get them on track with their health goals!

Did you know declining oestrogen effects your gums? 👄 Here are 4 more symptoms of Perimenopause. 9.Vaginal dryness Those fluctuating hormones can cause vaginal dryness and irritation, leading to painful intercourse, and impact on libido. 10. Gum disorder Decreasing hormones can cause gum tissue to become thinner, and the amount of saliva to decrease, making gums more susceptible to dental plaque. 11. Mood Swings Fluctuating hormones impact on your mood. Oestrogen effects Serotonin – the ‘happy hormone’ in your brain which regulates mood. Mood swings can include feeling tearful, anxious, and angry. 12. Fatigue Other symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, and hot flushes, can contribute to fatigue during the day. Fatigue then exacerbates other symptoms such as anxiety and poor concentration. Let’s talk about coffee and what it means for your hormones and fertility ☕️ ✨ Did you know not everyone metabolizes caffeine in the same way? 🤓 Caffeine is broken down by the liver using an enzyme called CYP1A2, and how much of this enzyme you’re able to produce is determined by your genes. (The CYP1A2 gene to be exact). If you have a mutation of this gene, and therefore produce less of the enzyme, you’ll be able to handle less caffeine than someone who doesn’t. (Hint: only 10% of us make lots of CYP1A2). ✨ Another thing to note: CYP1A2 is involved when it comes to breaking down estrogen (which, if you didn’t know, also happens in the liver). ✨ That means drinking coffee could be impairing your body’s ability to keep estrogen in check. Hello PMS, heavy periods, and cellulite! ✨ Drinking coffee also raises levels of the stress hormone cortisol. ✨ If you’re running high on cortisol, chances are you’ll be running low on progesterone which is less than a stellar combination because we need progesterone to support a healthy pregnancy (not to mention buffer the highs and lows of estrogen in the second half of our cycles). ✨ Ideally, if you’re trying to conceive, you’ll reduce or eliminate your caffeine intake. It’s associated with miscarriage and lower fertility, especially if you’re drinking more than two cups a day. This goes for the fellas too! Men who drink two or more cups of coffee a day are less likely to conceive via IVF, so it’s a good idea for BOTH of you to look at how big a role coffee is playing in your life and reduce as needed. ✨ What’s your relationship with coffee? Is it a daily part of your routine or something you’ve cut out altogether? ✨ P.S. If you want to wean yourself off, DM me for my favorite tips. Here are 4 more symptoms of Perimenopause - did you know about these ones? 🤔 5. Electric shock sensation What’s this about?! This can be a feeling of an electric shock or buzzing sensation, or like an elastic band snapping, and can effect any part of the body. 6. Allergies You may develop new allergies and allergic reactions. Some women suffer allergies during their menstrual cycle alone, so it’s clear that hormone levels have an impact on allergic reaction. 7.Burning tongue One of the weirder symptoms of perimenopause! Thought to be the result of activation of pain sensitive nerve cells surrounding the bitter taste buds at the back of the tongue, which can be damaged by dwindling oestrogen. 8.Loss of libido This can include lack of sexual desire and difficulty with arousal. You must wonder what your pregnant body looks like from the inside. There is a reason why you are short of breath and feeling like you have to pee all the time. The main change that takes place in your respiratory system during pregnancy is the circumference of your chest cage increases, and there's an upward displacement of the diaphragm as a result of the enlarging uterus. As your pregnancy progresses, your uterus rises up and out of your pelvic cavity, displacing your stomach, intestines and other adjacent organs to the back and sides of your abdomen. Do you find yourself crashing around 3p or 4p in the afternoon? Then you have coffee or chocolate and feel better for a while...then crash again. The brain requires more sugar than any other body tissue. My nutritional aspect of protocol for managing adrenaline focuses on the fact that hypoglycemia, or low sugar level in the brain, stimulates the production of adrenaline to supply the brain with fuel, the body will, if needed, synthesize sugar from protein through metabolic pathways that involve adrenaline. #hormone #vitamins #supplements #progesterone #vitamind #estroil #melatonin #dhea #coq10 #curcumin #prostrate #memorysupport #bioidenticalhormones #adrenaline #adrenalinesuport #adrenalinedominance #thyroid #thryroidsupport #zinc #supplements #inflammation #cardiohealth #cardiosupport #hormonebalancing
🧬MENOPAUSE🧬 Ladies, did you know that during #menopause the body produces less #oestrogen and #progesterone ?! These changes lead to a decrease in strength, decrease in your resting metabolic rate and a quicker decrease in bone density! Therefore, it’s important for women who are either approaching menopause or going through it to maintain muscle mass. 📉💪🏾🦴 Low levels of #physicalactivity can add to an already decreasing #bone mineral density. But, there is good news! #Resistance #training has been found to help in maintaining bone mineral density. During menopause, the body also undergoes #cardiorespiratory changes. These include a reduction in aerobic capacity and in the maximum heart rate. This means a decrease in the speed of the hearts contractions and cardiac output! So what now? Well you can ward off these decreases in your cardiorespiratory function by maintaining fitness levels throughout and after menopause! Even if you haven’t considered fitness levels before, gradual changes to your lifestyle can help to counteract the decreasing metabolism which occurs naturally as we age! A #personaltrainer can help you work out an effective energy balance to maintain lean #muscle mass and bone density and promote optimal #health during the #ageing process! #PT #FitnessInstructor #HomeWorkout #FITNESSthatFits #Fit #FitFam #NeverTooOld #Focus #Motivation #Dedication #Weights #InvestInYourself
THIS little bottle. It WORKS, holy cow. Sure, I fell in “like” with essential oils, diffusing them. But now I can say (after some skepticism) that I love what they can do for my mood, my stress levels, and the ups and down of the month. This serum, Progessence Plus brings me BALANCE, which I’m sure the whole family can appreciate . 😂I’ve been using it for a month now and have just barely made a dent so it should last a while. Are you experiencing hormonal imbalances? The answer is probably yes if you’ve got any of the following: -uterine fibroids, endometriosis, or PCOS -insomnia or difficulty sleeping -trouble losing weight -heavy, painful periods -PMS -mood swings -acne -infertility or difficulty conceiving -brain fog -hot flashes, night sweats, and/or vaginal dryness -low libido -bloating, tender breasts and weight gain It's important to TEST, not GUESS, at what's going on with your body. One test that I offer to patients is the DUTCH test, which stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. This test gives us information about all of the major hormone systems in the body that only urinary testing can provide (aka different than blood, which is notoriously terrible for assessing hormones, and saliva). It’s easy: simply pee on the test strips, mail it into the lab, and we get your results! In addition to info about so many of your hormones (stress hormones, thyroid, estrogens, progesterone, testosterone, etc.), we also get to see how well your body is using its vitamins (B12 for example - are you supplementing enough?). AND we get info about your serotonin, dopamine, and melatonin levels! These neurotransmitters play a big part in how you look and feel. Want to know more about the DUTCH test or hormones in general? DM me! Better yet, book an intake for yourself via my website. If you live in Ontario, I’m here to serve you - online visits available.
We all talk about keeping positive and mindful. BUT what if your hormones where causing havoc inside and you felt doubt, anxiety and at times even depressed. When a woman is on the pill or has a Mirena inserted there will be a change in her own hormone production. The pill switches off all ovulation pathways and gives you a false period - remember pill bleeds are sciences way of making you think you are having a real period. On the pill it has been shown that the brain can change shape. . In 2015, neuroscientists from the University of California, Los Angeles in the US took brain scans of 90 women who were either currently using the pill or not, and found that two key brain regions were thinner in pill users. These regions are involved in emotion regulation, decision-making and reward response. This could help explain why some women become anxious or depressed when taking the contraceptive pill. . Women off contraceptives can also struggle with the above if the are having anovulatory cycles (a period but not actually ovulating), poor progesterone production, stress, poor diet or even poor gut function can make us feel anxiety and depressed. . So if you are finding it hard to be “positive” maybe consider looking at your hormones. . . . . . . . . . . . #progesterone #hormones #jacquiwattsnaturopath #adelaidewellness #adelaidehealth #pill #ocp #hormonebalance #naturopath #adelaidehealth #healthfulwellness #healthful #hormonehealthnaturopath #womenshealth #women #hormoneimbalance #hormonebalance #hormonehealth #hormonesupport #oestrogen #oestrogendominance #estrogendominance
Already spotting today. Skipped my usual routine yesterday to clean house and knowing today was going to be the last day of Progesterone. The negative pregnancy test and spotting I’m seeing today ensures I am for sure not pregnant. Time for AF to gear up completely and onto the next cycle.
TMJ Dysfunction. Also commonly known as TMJ (although technically that’s the name of the joint, not the disorder 🤷🏻‍♀️). • If you’re one of the many people like me who suffer from #tmjdisorder you know what a pain it is. • It affects mostly women ages 30-50 and symptoms range from difficulty chewing, clicking or popping, earaches & facial pain or discomfort. • Treatment options are broad and range from NSAIDs like ibuprofen & naproxen (which I don’t recommend) to getting a professional orthotic or splint made and even surgery in some cases. • I personally see a #neuromusculardentist and have a fixed orthotic that will eventually be replaced by veneers. I have also found that taking magnesium (a natural muscle relaxant) and maintaining appropriate levels of progesterone (the calming hormone) also help significantly since there is some evidence that low progesterone levels contribute to development of TMJD. • If you suffer from TMJ disorder, know there are a lot of treatment options out there. My jaw and neck pain have been drastically reduced and my jaw no longer clicks every time I chew! • #tmjd #tmjdisorder #tmjdysfunction #neuromusculardentistry #paleo #plantbased #beautycounter #saferbeauty #keto #whole30 #progesterone #hormones #womenshealth #healthcoach #functionalmedicine #integrativemedicine #crossfit #yoga #stressreduction #glutenfree #dairyfree #whole30certifiedcoach
NEWSFLASH! Go from Hormone Misery to Hormone Heaven! Hot flashes can really interrupt your day, cause you to lose focus, and put a tail spin on your productivity and enjoyment of life! I am SO happy that the TRUTH and results of the Women's Health Initiative is FINALLY GETTING OUT. Though there are still many doctors and patients in the dark who still believe Estrogen causes breast cancer... MANY are finally getting the news that the Women's Health Initiative confirmed the opposite - that the Estrogen Arm of the largest study to date had LOWER rates of breast cancer than even the PLACEBO! Remember! It's NOT the Estrogen that caused women in the Women's Health Initiative to have higher rates of breast cancer - it was the ProgesTIN (A SYNTHETIC Progesterone) in Provera that caused it! (Beware... it's the same thing in birth control pills!) AND BIOIDENTICAL ProgesteRONE has NEVER been associated with an increased risk of Breast Cancer! It's important to understand the difference between ProgesTINS and Bioidentical ProgesteRONE! (Your life could depend on it!) You don't have to "grin and bear it!" Those days are over for us. So, Ladies... I am so glad you are here discovering the truth about Hormones. We are living way past Menopause these days. For MOST of us... who do not have an extensive family history of breast cancer, we are SAFE to use Estrogen! And remember - Always use BIO IDENTICAL Estrogen and Progesterone. The wisdom of our bodies knows what to do with Bio identical Hormones. It doesn't know what to do with Synthetic NON Bio identical toxins. It's now OK! Go from Hormone Misery to Hormone Heaven! So in a moment of madness and googling... I’ve just read that progesterone pessaries can delay a period... is this the case? Has this happened!!! We had a bit of brown spotting and then nothing. Haven’t tested yet, period is 2 days late. Testing on Sunday as advised by the hospital... . #embryotransfer #ivfsucks #ivfquestions #progesterone #pessaries #9dp5dt #questions #babydust #tryingtostayhopeful
The doctor who helped us to conceive G was affiliated with a women's health method called NaPro (Natural Procreative) Technology. So of course we wanted to find someone who uses the same protocol as we try for another. The first time around, we lived in an area with plenty of NaPro options around. But now, we live an hour away from the nearest doctor who uses the NaPro method. We called about a month or two ago, but they were full on patients and put us on a waiting list. Recently they called us back, and our first appointment with them is scheduled for the end of the month! None of the doctors we had seen (before NaPro) could figure out what was wrong, but the NaPro method is a bit more thorough than other protocols used to find a cause for one's infertility, and after six months they saw 2 problems that no other doctor had ever even mentioned to me - one of those issues was my lack of progesterone production. I'm hoping it'll be as simple as doing the exact same thing we did the first time. But you never know. Our bodies change and new issues sometimes arise. I am always hoping for a surprise baby, but since 2010 we have done nothing to prevent pregnancy and only have ended up with one! So, surprises - while not impossible - are certainly not likely. This upcoming appointment makes the idea of having a second child feel more real. If you're interested in learning more about NaPro, hit me up! There are said to be 33 symptoms of Perimenopause - those years leading up to Menopause when a woman’s periods finally stop. Some of these symptoms you may have heard of or be familiar with. Many may come as a bit of a surprise! Women may experience a few or many, and symptoms may be mild or have more of an impact. Here’s the first in the list: 1.Hair Loss Hormonal changes can have all sorts of unexpected effects on the body and hair loss is one of them.  Hair loves oestrogen and progesterone, so fluctuating levels can effect hair growth. 2.Weight Gain You might start gaining weight around your belly. The key is exercising regularly and consistently. Build in daily exercise if you can. 3. Brittle nails Lower oestrogen can lead to dehydration or lack of moisture in the body, which leads to dry, brittle nails. 4.Sleep disorders This can include difficulty getting to sleep, frequent waking, and sleeping more lightly than usual. All of these can make you feel as if a good night’s sleep is a thing of the past, and impact on energy levels and mood during the day. Avoid caffeine! This lovely little graph depicts the fluctuating ratios of estrogen & progesterone in a woman's cycle. Each shifting ratio comes with its own benefits & strengths. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For example, estrogen boosts focus, willpower & motivation. Progesterone boosts sleep & attention to details, & it also calms the nervous system. These are just a few of the * M A N Y * ways these hormone have a subtle influence over how we interact with the world. Learn them. Lean into them. #trustyourbody ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Something is lost when we can't honor this natural cycle - & it's not just the #cyclesuperpowers ! This is an intimate & integral part of being female & being human...neither of which I wish to disown. Let's choose to be whole & embodied together as we honor the whole of who we are in body, mind & spirit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #focus #willpower #motivation #attentiontodetail #vibrant #productive #sleep #estrogen #progesterone  #hormones #femalehealth #menstrualcycle #menstrualhealth #periods #menstruationmatters #periodpositive #periodpower #womenempowerment #hormonesaresmart #hormonal #knowyourbody  #predictable #pattern #intelligent #loveyourbody #womenempoweringwomen #connect
It’s important to me to “walk the walk.” I want to set the example. For my kids, for my friends, for other women, for moms. I get it. I’m busy. I’ve got 3 kids. They’re all in activities. I run a business that I’m pouring my heart and soul into every day. But I will always make myself, and my health a priority. Always. Because when I’m happy and healthy, everyone is happy and healthy. Heck yes! Women need oestrogen to make serotonin which is a precursor to melatonin- our sleep hormone! BUT too much Oestrogen can actually inhibit it 🤦🏼‍♀️ #cantwin We also need progesterone... this stuff not only helps to calm our farms 🙊 it also helps us to sleep 💤 If your on the pill, or not ovulating (hello menopause) you probably aren’t producing enough progesterone and this may affect your sleep. ALSO stress leads to HPA Axis Dysfunction which can throw out your oestrogen/ progesterone balance (among other things!). For some really easy sleep tips check out Instastories 👌🏻 #sleep #insomnia #hormones #oestrogen #progesterone #melatonin
