“NO ONE SHOULD FEEL ASHAMED TO TALK ABOUT WHAT GOD HAS TESTED YOU WITH.
One thing I cannot stand about certain communities, is that they look down upon anyone with any sort of health issues.
Mental illness, depression, anxiety, cancer, being physically handicapped, etc.
Did you finally go out with your friends after being locked up in your room for a week? THAT IS AMAZING AND I AM PROUD OF YOU.
Did you let your anxiety get the best of you and spend the night in?
THAT IS OKAY, you will get it next time. Do not beat yourself up over it, it happens.
CELEBRATE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
I am a cancer survivor of 4 years, 9 days, 16 hours and 47minutes. I will tell my story to anyone who will benefit from it. I am not ashamed. I am not “damaged goods”. I am not “some poor sick girl”. I am the daughter of Abdulrahmane. I am Reem Isshac. I am a fighter. I am a survivor. I am whatever I choose to share.
I am proud of who I have become and I will not pretend like nothing happened.
Because of everything that I’ve been through during this experience, I have suffered from depression. Which led to anxiety. But guess what? I asked for help. And with the love and support from my parents, I got better. Without them, I don’t know where I would be.
I’m tired of all this hidden pain people are going through. Share your story. Make a difference. Ask for help.” @reem_who #muslimsoftheworld1
