A second recall went out yesterday for romaine lettuce. This past spring/ summer 5 people died from contaminated lettuce. This new case, so far no deaths have been reported. The CDC has reported 32 illnesses in 11 states with California being the highest rates. Most people who are at risk are children 5 and under, adults older than 65 and people with weakened immune symptoms. Healthy adults and children can get seriously ill.
With Thanksgiving tomorrow and more holidays coming up, here are some things consumers can do: ▪️Wash hands, utensils and surfaces with HOT soapy water BEFORE and AFTER handling food. ▪️Wash your refrigerator with hot soapy water if you’ve had romaine stored recently. ▪️Avoid romaine and sub for other leafy greens such as kale, collard greens, spinach, bok choy or iceberg.
Cross contamination is the main reason for these outbreaks and poor health management practices during food production. Hand sanitizer will not cut it. You need hot soapy water and the friction of your hands. Wipe your phone and regularly touched surfaces frequently, especially before eating.
Play it safe this holiday season and spend it with family and friends and not on the doctors office with food poisoning.

Dr. Ovunda Jack Omodu a relentless apostle of Africa's quest for development, a distinguished philanthropist and is very passionate about Nigeria. He has been a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons since2012 with a specialisation in surgery and urology.
If we don't find a solution to our health sector, very soon people would start to visit their butchers for surgery. Patients are entitled to quality health care, as Doctors are equally entitled to quality practice. Government should encourage entrepreneurship within the health sector of the country, in order to stop medical tourism outside Nigeria.

😄 Z uśmiechem nam do twarzy! 😄 🆙 Dlatego pamiętajmy o tym, aby to właśnie od niego zaczynać każdy swój dzień... 😉

Breaking with convention: 10 protective factors to help you dance joyfully on the path offreedom
The laws of physics fascinated me as a teenager. It was partly the fact that we could describe the systems that governed our universe but also that the conventions and units were completely made up.
That’s fine when there’s consensus among the scientific community. But when a radical paradigm shift in scientific theory is involved with implications rippling into wider society and coming up against old powers, things can get tricky. Galileo’s trial is the quintessential example; not to mention poor monk Giordano Bruno who was burned at the stake by the Inquisition for similar scientific views to Galileo.
And so it is with your mind. When one part of you surrenders to the evidence that something else is possible in your life - that it’s time to break with the convention of your current life - all manner of havoc can be unleashed.
Doubt. Fear. Clinging to the past.

You are done with residency. Finally done. Finally in your first “real job” as an attending in an ED you love. You’ve worked so hard for this and your life is finally starting.
You are brave. You decide to call off your wedding. To leave a relationship that isn’t right, to leave a man who doesn’t deserve you. You don’t know what the future holds, but it’s right in front of you. A change. A chance.
You show up to work, to your hospital, ready for your shift. You park and get out of your car. And he’s there. He was waiting for you. He is angry. He pulls out a gun. He shoots you. He kills you.
This is the story we now know of Dr. Tamara O’Neal who per those who knew her was an amazing, brave, kind, confident ER physician who was murdered yesterday at Mercy hospital by her ex fiancé. Let that sink in. She was respected in the community. She was highly educated. She was at her safe place at work in the daytime in public. And he killed her.
Condolences, thoughts, and prayers are not enough. The time to ignore domestic violence and gun violence is over. 💔 1 in 3 women have been physically assaulted by an intimate partner. 💔 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner. 💔 The presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation increases the risk of homicide by 500%. #enoughisenough
