120KG DEADLIFT. . . I’ve been chasing this goal since November of a double bodyweight deadlift and finally on Sunday the bar came off the floor. Admittedly with a few false starts and laps around the gym but it happened. . . One year ago my 1RM would have been around 75-80KG having only just gotten into weight training properly a few months before that. . . Now what? Lift more heavy things! And maybe some accessory work... that’s the great thing about powerlifting; the limit does not exist.

🥰Surround yourself with those who lift you up 🥰 . . . I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Always surround yourself with people who live to support and inspire others. People who will celebrate your wins, but equally, give honest advice on where you can better yourself. I’ve been lucky enough to have met many amazing people in the gym, including these two 👆👆. We’ve formed an incredible team building bond and always strive to help each other achieve our goals. The goals may differ at times, but that doesn’t matter, we still support and help without judgement, comparison or competition. The beauty of having such a team is how incredibly fun it makes fitness! Thanks for a great push session this morning, anyone interested can check out my story for the full workout, but here is: 1️⃣bench press: kicked off the workout with this one after having avoided it for quite sometime. I tend to have a bit of a mental block with bench press so it was good to take a break from it. Today I surprised myself by getting back up to 40kg for 5 reps without it feeling too tough. For me, this is a win! 2️⃣incline DB press: this has been a staple of mine on push day for sometime. I tend to prefer dumbbells over barbell. Made a decision to do 1 more cycle of Kizen before I move on to a new strength program. Cycle 4 was kinda all over the place as during that time I went to the Philippines for a month then I got sick for another month!!! I feel like I had made minimal strength gains if any. ... ... Anyway, onto cycle 5. This time, on week 1, I am now starting with 80% volume... ... ... So, this session was deadlifts + accessories. Working sets of 3x5 on 170kg + 1 amrap which I managed 9 reps! New rep personal best on this weight! ... ... I'm real pleased with all my cues and progress considering the time off. ... ... So the tendency is for form & everything else to breakdown as the weight gets heavier. Im always trying to keep a strict form, lucky for me I have a strong lower/upper back & flexion is not a problem for me. I am also very used to bracing out into my belt like its second nature & utilising that essential hip hinge to lock out. Well, looking at this clip I'm not doing too bad. Seems like I am gaining strength!!! Build strength in your end ranges _ Practicing my SOTS press here, something that I’ve always found hard. _ Yet being strong in this movement will undoubtedly improve your ability to snatch. _ It demonstrates good end range mobility and strength in the overhead position which are obviously essential when catching weight in the receive position. _ Even if you don’t Olympic lift, being able to perform this movement will be good for you from a strength perspective. _ If you can’t get into this position - it highlights mobility work you need to do!
