I know I’m sharing the same fueling twice, but Smashed Potatoes are truly one of my go-to meals. They’re easy and delicious. And, most important, versatile. Most mornings, this is what I have: smashed potatoes with one fried egg. A few things you should know about me and Optavia. I don’t always follow the rules. If I feel like I need more protein than the allotted amount in one day, I eat it. Always lean {and the best quality I can afford}, but the key for me is to listen to my body. I’ve often said, if I get to my goal weight {whatever that is—I’ll know when I get there}, but I’m still mentally occupied with food all the time and/or I haven’t learned how to listen to my body, I will NOT have reached my goal. For me, the ultimate goal is peace with my body and a healthy relationship to food. I make my meals as beautiful as possible—not for Instagram, but for me. Optavia already saves me so much time, I use that time {and still have time to spare} to plate my food and enjoy it thoughtfully. Yes, of course there are times that I’m on the run. That’s when a meal gets thrown into a dish for the road, or I grab a bar. But when I can, I pause. It’s that pause that allows me to listen to my body. I’ve seen nutritionists talk about pre-packaged food programs and how they don’t teach you how to eat. I can’t speak for the others, but Optavia truly allows me to make my meals the way I want to. Can a person use Optavia and not learn these lessons? Of course. That’s not the point. The point is that it IS possible. I started the program in August and have had 5 business trips, one as long as 6 days, since. On those trips, I bring a few bars, but I know that I won’t be able to be true to the program. So, I eat lean meats and vegetables and listen to my body. Sometimes, I eat carbs or sugar or alcohol, but I always listen to my body. And on those trips, I have never gained weight. I’ve lost 25 lbs in 4 months. For some on program, that may not seem like a lot, but for me, it’s perfect. Because I KNOW that even when I’m not “on,” I’m able to keep going. And, when I’m back home and on plan, the weight comes off. To me, that’s all the success I could ever ask for.

I'm satisfied with my shape but fat loss has slowed down. Constant red meat makes the process slower because of the high fat content but the trade off for micronutrients proceeds the negative in my opinion. I might switch one meal out for chicken soup because I hate chicken that's the only way I can stand it anymore.
