Woke-up to a blanket of white fluffy snow and a 2 hour delay! Following in my tradition, on the first snow I always make a fresh pot of quinoa porridge. It’s a staple all winter and a great alternative to oatmeal since it packs a protein punch. Porridge often gets a bad wrap but this one does not disappoint. It’s nutty, sweet, and oh so satisfying. I started making it over 10 years ago, following a trip trekking high in the Andean Mountain range of Peru. We had this for breakfast everyday (since quinoa is native of the region) - and it sustained us all day as we ascended Summit after Summit at high elevations. I may not be climbing a major peak today but I’ve got some shoveling to do, and will be taking my touring skis into the powder for some skinning! Recipe Insights - boil 1.5 cups quinoa and a diced apple with extra water, blend raw cashews with water and add to quinoa once cooked, while simmering add a handful of sliced almonds, flax meal, tbsp of maple syrup, pinch each of cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. Eating 80% of alkaline foods at the moment because I had a lot of pains going on in my neck, shoulders and lower back for months now. I couldn’t raise my arms above my head because of the pain in my shoulder. I thought this was just tension pain or a wrong workposition, but my stress levels are not that high in general. So I decided to quit bread, lower my coffee intake and eat loads of veggies and fruits. All the tension is gone. Seriously, in one week. I ate loads of oats and seeds, this can lead to a disturbed ph level in your body. I have to check the scientific evidence for this story but in my personal opinion, this is the perfect way to get rid of your pains. 🥦🥒🥑🍌🍏

Warum wir Rohkost lieben?? Wir wollen leben, wir wollen lieben. Dafür brauchen wir jede Menge Energie. Energie, die bei erhitzten, industriell verarbeiteten Lebensmitteln verloren ist. Ab 42°C gehen so gut wie alle wichtigen Nährstoffe, Vitamine, Antioxidativen, sekundäre Pflanzenstoffe... verloren. Und das in einer Zeit, in der wir diese durch so hohe Umweltbelastung wie noch nie doch so dringend benötigen. Doch das ist wohl noch eher das kleinere Übel, wenn wir bedenken, dass durch das erhitzten der Lebensmittel krebserregende Stoffe entstehen. Der Körper erkennt diese dann nicht mehr als Nahrung an, sondern sieht in ihnen einen Feind, der bekämpft werden muss. Diese “Lebensmittel“ rauben uns mehr Energie und Kraftstoffe als sie uns geben.
